Spencer Havner breaks scapula in motorcycle accident

Packers tight end Spencer Havner, who scored four touchdowns on only seven catches during the 2009 regular season — and one touchdown on two catches in a playoff loss at Arizona — recently was arrested for DUI in California after crashing a motorcycle.

According to TheUnion.com, Havner lost control of a motorcycle, fracturing a scapula and suffering cuts to the back of his head and left arm.

He was not wearing a helmet.

Authorities determined that Havner was under the influence, and he was arrested.

UPDATE:  Havner’s agents deny that he has been charged, but they declined to answer a follow-up question regarding whether charges are still being contemplated.

How in the hell does a guy break his scapula (shoulder blade) without banging his head on the ground so hard that he fractures his skull?

People make mistakes – this 1 will hurt him physically, emotionally (embarrassment) and maybe financially if he is suspended and/or flat out released in the upcoming months.
He should be thankful its his scapula and not his head that was injured.

It’s a shame..Havner could have developed into a real solid goal line threat. I guess we will have to see what Mr. Goodell & TT have planned for this poor bastard.

Motorcycles aren’t dangerous enough by themselves, gotta add booze to the mix and take off without a helmet – just to make sure all the elements of the Stupidity Equation are in place.
He was so alert, so quick, so mentally sharp last season. Came out of nowhere, made a (good) name for himself, earned respect. Now look. Just another smudge on the police blotter. At least all the physical pain will be his own.
I’m beginning to think DUIs and other arrests ought to be followed along with sacks, receptions and tackles. Then when it came time to vote for awards, or consider salary increases, voters would have a more complete picture. Ye gods and little fishes, what a moron.

I could take a stab at the Packers here. Criticize the organization for the acts of one of their players, but I have more class than that.
I’m sure if this happened to a Vikings player, there would be about 150 posts saying the Vikings can’t manage their players, have horrible discipline, bandwagon fans, maybe throw in a dated love boat reference, and top it off with a low blow regarding the team moving to L.A.
So please, fellow Vikings fans, show some class here. Maybe this “new concept” will rub off on the resident Packer fans here. (probably not)

  20. jx4cmario1 says: Mar 15, 2010 11:53 PM

I want to hear another rant about Vikings players when these Packers have consistent lawbreakers.
DUI huh…not surprising since 90% of the state of Wisconsin has to live in a constant drunken haze in order to put up with the lack of excitement in the state. Guess it rubs off on it’s players.

Bad timing for a screw up. Scapula’s not that bad though, the suspension will give him time to heal if the Pack decides to hang on to him. He does catch TD’s and almost seems invisible to opposing D’s at times. Bad part is he will be reprimanded for his actions (yes, he could have hurt others), but other players get to play with recurrent crimes, sexual assaults, domestic violence etc.

“Hours after a report surfaced that Green Bay Packers tight end Spencer Havner is facing DUI charges, his agency, Athletes First, issued a strong denial any charges have been filed.
“Spencer Havner suffered only minor injuries this weekend in an accident, including a broken scapula, but he should be fully recovered in short order,” Mark Humenik, Athletes First’s general counsel, said in a statement.
“Despite unfounded media reports to the contrary, he has not been charged criminally with driving under the influence of alcohol or any other substance.”
Asked if charges still are being contemplated or if Havner is out of the hospital, the agency declined further comment.”

I couldn’t disagree more. On a motorcycle the one most likely to be injured or killed is the driver. When Mullet Allen is driving, everyone else on the road is at risk.
That fact, combined with the sheer number of transgressions involved, means the Mullet’s DUI problem is more dangerous to everyone.

It just points out of the lunacy of your team is full of bad people, my team is all great people argument.
Hopefully, Havner will learn from this experience instead of needing three occurrences like Allen did. But Allen now seems to have things straigtened out with respect to drinking and driving.
In reference to Cedric Griffin, my understanding was that he was, in fact, trying to sleep it off in his car, albeit after having driven some distance.

Haven’t you Minnesotans had enough stuff fall in that particular river already? Now you’ve taken to PUSHING things in??
That’s some bad karma right there..

Beer. It’s a joke. Drunk kids are “falling’ in the river here.
It’s called thinning the herd. If they are that stupid to be that drunk, then they deserve to “fall” in.

@ Calistin- Did you forget that we beat your sorry ass team for the North title the year before Favre came? You are a HOF Packer fan douche…
As far as Havner story, nothing new. Just another routine story of a losing joke of a franchise!
    ——-
Pervy my whigga has he even been charged with anything yet?
    ===============================
Sorry Poopersuckers, you don’t get to play that card. Every Viking is convicted before all the facts are out by Packer fans.
By the way, yes, he was arrested for DUI.
    What’s with this whigga stuff?
That is quite racist and there is no call for it.

    Shitterson!!!
Come on now! Without me , you would have nothing viable to say on this site!
Who would you spew your ever lovable stats too and present them as facts?
I am the meat to your 2 veg.
You would not exist on this site if not for me.
Your obsessant need to counter point everything I say, while flattering, borders on psychosis.
That and the fact that you wanted to mail me your shit, speaks volumes about you as a person.
The fecal point, er focal point , of my post is that I suggest you seek help for your obsessiveness.
Most Packer fans points of view are obsolete.
Thats why, in La Crosse, we’ve taken to pushing them in the Mississippi.
Run along now Jimi, I’m sure you have a grumpy brewing that you are just dying to box up.

    Kids, don’t do drugs.

    Lame, even for you.
That is a good dog though, you know when you have been beaten.
Go lay by your dish now.
Maybe later we will go for a ride in the car!

As a shareholder and part owner of the Packers this news is disappointing to say the least. We need to let the legal system run its course however.

He was arrested not charged. Not the same.
Whigger-white man that becomes severly colorblind, and not only appears to himself as black, but actually begins to believe he is black. In trying to fit in with “their people” they act black and listen to rap music. Whiggers have caused the mass unification of all races to erraticate the whigger.
    Being a whig is racism.

I’d counter that you’re slipping as well, but that would imply you had room to give up. And that’s simply not the case.

    Seriously?
You are not the Adam shitterson i remember.
You aren’t any fun to even banter with anymore.
Are you depressed, sick, or something?
If it makes you feel better, you go ahead and mail me some poop.

Come on now, Fagnar. You know damn well I’d need an address. LaCrosse isn’t a huge city, but it’d take me an awful long time to pinch off enough logs to hit EVERY trailer in town.

  92. chickenragnar says: Mar 17, 2010 2:34 PM

That’s ok, you have nothing better to do, and i can tell you are itching to do it.
You are full of shit, so there shouldn’t be a probelm coming up with the logs.
Not a trailer dweller though, sorry.
If you are serious though, I think we could arrange something. I think you are sick enough to do it.

  93. Supersuckers says: Mar 17, 2010 2:59 PM

Let’s arrange something. With your poop fetish, you could use some extra shit about the house. God knows you spew enough of it on this site. In light of St Patrick’s day maybe I could eat an entire head of lettuce and squeeze out a green one for you.
All I need is an address. I’d send it COD, though.. I’m sure you’re used to paying for your supply.
Super, of course it comes out double tapered. No one’s been pushing the tips in like ol’ Chicken’s logs.

    Gilbert Brown

    Mark Chmura
The list goes on and on. And it’s the same thing with every team in every era. Please think (or research) before posting stupid shit.
