Defensive lineman Dwan Edwards is visiting Buffalo Tuesday, his league-leading third trip since free agency started.
This is a marriage that makes a lot of sense for both sides. Buffalo just lost out on Jimmy Kennedy, and don’t have many pieces for their new 3-4 defense. After early visits to the Broncos and Seahawks, the money Edwards was hoping for could dry up.
Edwards turns 29 this year and can play tackle or end. Linebacker Andra Davis is also visiting the Bills Tuesday.
Another top signing in the Gailey/Nix era.
If this guy leaves Baltimore for Buffalo… he deserves what he gets. It’s not like he didn’t get any snaps for the Ravens. He played quite often, and with Kelly Gregg and Trevor Pryce pretty much DONE, he’ll probably end up starting 14 games, and then playoffs.
Dwan, don’t be stupid. Unless you get a big contract, there’s no sense leaving the Ravens for Buffalo for a minor pay increase. Ravens practice/training facilities alone should keep you there.

Bingo!
Hey Dawan………(SEE: Jason Brown)
The Bills have pretty much proved they are aiming for mediocrity yet again in this regime. They are going after players who aren’t nearly good enough for roster sports on elite teams yet they have a chance to start on the Bills. Until management figures out that a mediocre coaching staff plus mediocre talent will yield mediocre results they will be never be anything. I hate being a Bills fan.

Another moron from Buffalo still crying because we didn’t get Cowher.
He had a very good year last year, but let’s not be stupid PFT. He is way too small to be an effective tackle. He’s a solid, but certainly unspectacular, D-end.
Edwards finally shows something – albeit not that much – in his contract year. He did nothing his first four years in Baltimore and was considered a bust for a second-round pick.
Buyer beware.
“The Bills don’t have many pieces for their new 3-4 defense.” What exactly does this mean? Of course the Bills are loaded in the secondary, so it must be that they have almost no one for their front seven. Now we all know that they need to get a decent NT, but what about the other positions, they must need to fill a lot of them. How about DE? Well they have Marcus Stroud, Spencer Johnson and John McCargo, plus Kyle Williams once they realize he does not fit at NT. Do they need LBs? They have Paul Posluzsney and Kawicka Mitchell as the ILBs, which should be alright. For OLB, they have Aaron Maybin, but they could need another good OLB, if Aaron Schobel decides to retire. Looks like they need an NT and possibly an OLB.
Is this what it means to “not have many pieces”?
I have seen Dwan Edwards on some sites as a ‘Top 10′ FA this year. I has visions of Edwards being the 2010 version of 2006 Anthony Weaver. A very underrated DL while with the Ravens, who will end up with a hefty contract elsewhere (Weaver signed a 5-yr/$26.5M ($12M guaranteed) contract with the Texans in 2006). While Edwards may have a little more versatility along the DL weighing in at close to 315 (compared to Weaver at 280), I just see too many similarities. Edwards will sign a 5/$25M-ish and like Weaver, probably be out of a job in just 2 or 3 years.
And agree with LearningAboutCuba… Edwards was long considered a bust until this season. Some team is going to be very sorry they signed him.
