Jets re-sign Tony Richardson

After competing against LaDainian Tomlinson for years in the AFC West, fullback Tony Richardson will now get to block for him.

The Jets announced Tuesday they reached an agreement with Tony Richardson, 38, on his third one-year deal with the team in as many years.

Richardson is a noted locker room leader and has remained remarkably effective late in his career.  This will be Richardson’s 16th NFL season.

This is the reason why our RB’s have had great success and the same reason why LT will have over 1,000 yards this year too.

Love it. Very underrated piece of the best running game in the league

sweet..ever since the chargers cut lo neal, LT has suffered…its 1500 yard time for the best RB since Jim Brown….the one and only “L mother effing T”

This is a huge (re) signing for the Jets, as T Rich will do what he does best and pave the way for the Jets rushing attack… Greene, Leon and LT… just the way he did all last season for Jones!

This is huge. Keeping T-Rich will surely be the most important move of this offseason, and no, I’m not being sarcastic, he makes that much of a difference.

Recall what happened to the Chiefs running game when Richardson left. They went from the best to one of the worst. It also did not help that they lost Roaf and Will Sheilds.

    Hey Zinn,
I sure wish the Chiefs would have grabbed him and brought him back into the fold. It might have helped undo some of the problems they’ve had since the day they let him go. The man has always been a beast at blocking for the RB, especially on goal line stands. Hell, even Larry Johnson might have had a decent record over the last few years if he would have had Mr. Richardson leading the way.

Dude, hush on that. No hating, but nn NY the one and only “L mother effing T” is Lawrence Taylor. I guess we’ll call him LT2, Richardson is great, glad he’s back.

Tomlinson is the best since Brown? Heh heh-larious. The former SD Charger couldn’t carry Barry Sanders shoes, let alone even one of Gale Sayers: THE Kansas Comet and best RB in NFL history (an hair above the great Jimmy Brown.)
As for Tony Richardson, another overhype. He was a distant 2nd to Lorenzo O’Neal as a FB – AND – left KC after the ’05 season. In ’06 minus Richardson & Willie Roaf, Larry Johnson aka LJ merely had the FINEST SEASON RUSHING in Chiefs history at 1789.
    Sayers > > tomlinson
    LJ > > richardson’s effect
