Lions re-sign Copeland Bryan

Though the rush of contract signings has slowed considerably, some moves are still falling into the cracks.

Here’s one that, as far as we can tell, has not been reported:  Lions defensive end Copeland Bryan has re-signed with the team.

Bryan is a restricted free agent who received no tender offer from the Lions.  He appeared in first games during 2009, his first season with the Lions.  He was in the starting lineup for an October 4 game against the Bears.

In 2008, he had 15 appearances with the Bills.

  1. Wow, that may be the most irrelevant bit of news ever posted to this site, and that’s saying a lot, because you guys truly post everything that ever happens. Or might happen. Or has no chance of happening, but hell, it gives someone a chance to post their name to an article.
In any event, who is Copeland Bryan? The Lions didn’t tender him, and then resigned him anyway? Just to save a few hundred grand, I suppose. Nice.

  2. The Lions picked him up off waivers just before the start of the 09 season. He played decent in a few games before going down with an injury. He finished the season on IR because of an MCL sprain. In 5 games he had 1 sack and just a few tackles. Depth at best.

  3. AWESOME!!!!! Now I’ll just wait for the non-article about Cliff Avril not worried about losing his starting job.
