Dude, this has nothing to do with J-Rus being black. There are plenty of black QBs who have had success – ie Cunningham, McNabb, Culpepper, Moon, etc. And I truly wish my Rams would give up a 5th rounder for RFA Troy Smith, because I think he’s got the stuff to be a winner in the league.
The negativity is all about JaMarcus not working hard, showing up to camp overweight, blaming everyone else for his failures, and being the last one in the building and the first one out. The animosity is for his big payday, lack of work ethic, and apparent apathy for his lack of success.

If you watch football (or maybe even Lacrosse) it’s pretty clear that the “race card” isn’t the reason for the hate on JaMarcus.
…It’s the Arch Card that seems to get Russell in trouble.

I don’t think Russell will be the answer at QB for the Raiders with his inaccuracy, lack of mobility and mental mistakes. He also hasn’t gotten help from his supporting cast, including the coaches. The play’s were so vanilla and predictable, the line couldn’t block well half of the time, the running game could rarely ever get going and yes, the recievers dropped too many catchable balls. Still Russell needs to step up big time, or get out of Oakland.
Gradkowski has a little more mobility and doesn’t make as many mistakes, still I don’t see him being much more than an average or slightly better than average QB. Maybe he can get the Raiders over the .500 mark, but a deep playoff run seem’s unlikely. Still he has heart, and the team does seem to pick it up a notch. But also notice that the defense also mixed in more blitz’s and the offense opened up a bit too later in the season. At this point, I’d take Bruce, hands down, but I think it’s important to realize that this is a team sport, and it wasn’t only Russell whom played bad at times, particulalry early to mid season.
