Steeg leaves Chargers

Chargers Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jim Steeg announced Tuesday he is leaving the organization at the end of March to pursue “further challenges” in his professional career.

Steeg spent 26 years in charge of special events for the NFL before helping to run the Chargers over the last five years.

“I’m disappointed to see him go,” said Chargers President Dean Spanos. “Jim provided solid leadership and many bright, new ideas for our front office. I’m extremely grateful for his dedication and loyalty to the Chargers and our family.”

The Chargers face some challenging years ahead with their stadium issues hanging over the franchise.  The team will now face those challenges with one less talented executive.

Nobody wants to work for them. Its a garbage franchise that will soon be relocated to L.A.

I’m sure they can find talented executives when they move to LA unless the Jags beat them there first.

    Dave,
He knows … Satan567 is the handle Al Davis uses when on the Internet.
In defense of Satan, Al Davis is not an idiot … he knows exactly what he is doing and it would work great if the year was still 1975.

This is easy – he’s leaving because San Diego is never going to get another Super Bowl without a new stadium and Steeg doesn’t want to play traffic cop for that outdated dump on Friars Road. This is a great city, all of us living here know that, but the politics are deplorable and they will soon be losing the team…what a shame.

Easily one of the NFL’s most versatile execs for past 35 years (article neglected his years of service with the Dolphins). Well liked by all — from ownership and network execs, through the junior stadium ops guys. Simply a dedicated, hard working, loyal, and very creative guy who took tremendous pride in his role and responsibilities. The Super Bowl event is what it is today because of his 26 years of vision plus the uncanny ability to organize the chaos that is the event. Better than average third baseman way back when in Central Park softball, too! Some organization is about to get a “1st round” talent! Thanks, Jim!

metalhead knows of which he speaks
the city of san diego has been one of the most corrupt politically, ever.
If the chargers leave, it’s because the city was run by morons
