Responding to a question about Shonn Greene mimicking his touchdown celebration, LaDainian Tomlinson says he has no hard feelings toward his new teammate and looks forward to mentoring him.
“When I saw him do it I felt it needed a little critiquing,” Tomlinson said with a laugh. “I thought, ‘Maybe I’ll see if I can come critique it.’ I’m definitely going to show him the right way to do it. I’ll be honored if he does it more times next year.”
That’s a very different attitude than Tomlinson took toward the New England Patriots mimicking Shawne Merriman’s celebrations three years ago. Perhaps Tomlinson is older and wiser now — something he alluded to when saying he wants to serve as Greene’s mentor in New York.
“The greatest thing you can leave in this league is your veteran knowledge,” Tomlinson said. “The greatest thing you can leave, a legacy, is teaching young guys. . . . I embrace that role of mentoring young running backs like Shonn Greene.”

LT on the other hand will thrive with 10 carries. great job by them all the way around…LT and leon in the same backfield will cause FITS …

vs KC 13 carries for 39 yards

vs Oak 13 carries for 55 yards
Yeah, he definitely thrives on limited carries. If the Jets get to play the Raiders ever week he might actually average over 3 yd/carry.

Then he should have signed as a coach somewhere. He is over the hill, has no breakaway speed anymore and only was signed by Jets for his name to sell some of the many unsold seat licenses.
As if Jets management thinks New Yorkers didn’t see this washed up “classy” bigmouth play the last 2 years on TV.
Maybe if their other teammate, Antonio Cromartie, knew how to tackle, Shonn Greene would had never mimicked LaDainian “LT2″ Tomlinson (not Lawrence “LT” Taylor).
Can’t you see that LT was just mad they lost to the Pats again? And that’s why he was so upset by the “lights out” thing.
Also, Greene did it during the game as a TD celebration. Certainly he was somewhat mocking the Chargers, but he didn’t go out of his way to run to midfield after the game was over. You really don’t see the difference?

in washed up tomlinson’s last game vs. the jets the classy running back carried the ball 12 times for 24 yards. but he also caught 3 passes gaining ZERO yards. or for 15 touches tomlinson gained 24 yards or about 1.6 yards per touch.
he was signed to sell seat licenses! yeah right as if it will help even sell one seat license.

Hey madsqgrdn, you don’t have your facts straight. Thomas Jones averaged 4 yards per carry all last year and LT only averaged 3.3 yards per carry. I guess you do not enjoy actually doing research to support your contentions.
He was hired so teams would think the Jets defense now has Lawrence Taylor on it and fear their legs to be snapped……………..

One of Tomlinsons biggest complaints in San Diego was not getting enough carries. He always claimed it kept him from getting into a “Groove”
He has been notorious for not being able to break tackles the last few years. Goes down after (and a lot of the time) before the first hit. You’ll see what we mean. He’s damn good in that red zone though, injured or not!
Really, who cares there are better players to talk about like Aaron Rodgers!!!!!

Obviously when I said LT will thrive with 10 carries I meant on the Jets this year with a decent offensive line. I watch the games , Im not a stat nerd. If you watch the sandiego game ( downloadable in it’s entirety on itunes for 2.99) the jets defenders hit him behind the line of scrimmage almost every time he touched the ball. If you look at LTs highlights of the past year on youtube you will see that he regularly has to make one guy miss behind the line of scrimmage to gain any positive yardage. With the Jets line he wont get touched until he passes the line and he’ll have some time and space to read the blocks. If you watch the jets games TJ and shonn went untouched until they hit the second level with regularity. If I didn’t know that most of you were living in your moms basement using a bare lightbuld to keep you warm at night I would bet you that LT’s ypc this year…will be higher than TJs was last year. I like LT in new york..and this LT is not a raving cokehead.

the only reason chargers fans were booing him in that loss to the jets was tomlinson was given TOO MANY CARRIES THAT DAY – 12 carries for 24 yards PLUS 3 catches for ZERO yards.
They gave him the ball 15 times, too many.

LT is washed up! Has been for two years. I don’t know why all these dumb Jets fans are bragging about their owner being too cheap to pay Thomas Jones the bonus he earned so they cut him and then replaced him with a flashy name that hasn’t done jack in years.

TJ is hurt – and the Jets know all about that. That’s why Shonne got a chance – he never played until TJs injury.
Before TJ got hurt, he was so-so. Behind that line TJ should have been a star. Leon Washington is probably also hurt badly. Shonne=TJ, LDT=LW.
I’m guessing the Jets doctors had something to do with this decision and that LW will be traded soon.
