Antonio Cromartie pays past-due child support

Shortly after acquiring him in a trade with the San Diego Chargers, the New York Jets agreed to pay Antonio Cromartie $500,000 up front.

Cromartie has now used some of that money to pay his past-due child support.

Brent Schrotenboer of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Cromartie’s scheduled appearance in a San Diego court next week was taken off the court calendar after Cromartie made a child support payment.

Cromartie has seven children by six women in five states, and the attorney for one of the mothers said he was behind by somewhere between $25,000 and $50,000 in payments.

Both Cromartie and Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum said after Cromartie joined the team that he would be making sure all of his child support payments were up to date this off-season.
