The Giants secured dibs on the first “real” home game at the new stadium they’ll share with the Jets. Whether the stadium will be full for either of the two games -- or any others -- remains to be seen.
Richard Sandomir of the New York Times reports that the Giants are 1,500 Personal Seat Licenses short of selling out. The Jets won’t say how far they have to go.
The Giants attached a PSL to all 82,500 seats at the new building. The Jets did not place a PSL (otherwise known as a fee for the right to actually sit in the seat) on 27,000 seats in the upper deck.
The fact that the Jets are still struggling to sell their PSLs -- and won’t say how many remain -- helps put into perspective the recent decision to choose a big-name tailback over a guy with better ability. Also, Monday’s coin-flip flap might have been a manifestation of the Jets’ frustration regarding the remaining PSL inventory.
