I think next year when the Jets play the Giants, the team that is visitor will be better off. There is no way that a home game in that stadium would feel like it. The number of fans for the visiting team would nullify any advantage. It would be like a jets game in Miami. New Yorkers everywhere.

What he’s saying and you’re ignoring is that both teams are paying less than Jones and it’s $1.2 bil > $800 mil. Jones got $150 mil from the NFL to help and because there are TWO teams financing the stadium, they got $300 mil from the NFL (this is paid back by the teams with the portion that would normally go to the road team).
If these teams went alone, it would have cost a lot more to build both stadiums and neither would have the amenities that they have now, unless they were willing to pay $1.6 bil solo. They decreased their overall costs by splitting the costs and getting double the NFL money. Without that, you’re looking at a PSL for both that would come very close to what the Cowboys paid.

Ok, so let’s say the Jets play the Giants. I know the home team will get dibs, but if you had PSL for the “visiting team”, wouldn’t you be pissed that you couldn’t go?
Yes, I know it is your “away” game, but it is still in your stadium. 2 football teams sharing a stadium is just wrong.
You don’t see the Cubs and Whitesox sharing a baseball stadium, or the Yankees/Mets for that matter.

ChrisyRoman – what’s moronic is the league NOT seriously considering have them play each other. I understand the scheduling rotation just fine and why the hell not make and exception to NFL policy “just to open one stadium”? A game like that could set the tone for the future of both teams, it could go a long way in helping the Jets owner and Jet fans get over their “teeny weenie” syndrome from living in the shadow of the Giants since they started playing in NYC.
Mike’sOxLog – Jimmy Carter has done nothing but smile since “W” (worst ever) took office because he knows young Bushy way out DUMBA$$ed him while he sat in the Oval Office.

@Pier588 – the Jets and Giants playing the first game of the season would only be logical from the standpoint of a complete moron… which clearly you are if you’re unaware of the NFL’s rotating schedules based on W-L and division the entire division will play (for ex. the Jets will be playing the AFC North), if you think the NFL is going to change this policy just to open one stadium you’re just proving my point…

They were lucky to get in and lucky they played who they played. The Jets are not a good team and I highly doubt they make the playoffs this year. So just knock off the “bright” future BS. They were a 9-7 team that by all rights should have been 8-8. Just relax.

The Jets still have more to sell because their PSLs are worth more. The Giants put PSLs on all their seats, so the price is lower. The Jets didn’t put any PSLs on seats in the upper-deck, so all the seats that are left, are – the good lower-deck seats worth anywhere from 50K to 100k. The Jets should have done the same thing the Giants did, and put PSLs on all the seats, so the price of all the lower level seats comes down.
The Jets will be playing 2nd fiddle no NY team for as long as Rex and this D play the kind of football they played last year.

Not true. You can call up the Giants today and you’ll be offered 5k endzone PSLs or 4k Mezz B PSLs within a week. There are constant fluctuations in availability, especially with payments coming due. That 1500 number is strictly PR.

The giants have sold 81,000 out of 82,500 psl’s, the one’s that haven’t sold, carry a 25,000 dollar a piece price tag + tickets and other mandatory expendatures required to sit in the “coaches club”
So I ask you, (and I realize your not very brite) what does that have to do with the jets inability to sell psl’s even though they aren’t even attaching them to roughly 1/3 of THEIR games seats ??

I dunno, even in a market like NY/NJ, I think its pretty impressive to sell close to 100,000 psl’s and in this economy.
Don’t worry Wall Street will come back, the corporations will soak up the seats and tickets, and everthing will be alright.
As for the football Jets, they have a workhorse back, they’re paying him 3rd round money.
Jones wanted a 3 mil roster bonus, and was due 2.8 mil next year, plus wanted an additional year on the contract.
The Jets are obligated to their new 3rd down/red zone back for 2.5 million this year, and most likely have an out for next year.
Lets see what kind of assault Jones makes on the rushing title this year out in Kansas City…..

The PSLs give you permanent rights to those seats to purchase season tix. You get better seat selection and the value of the seats, in a normal economy, rises significantly each year so you can sell at some point.
A few years ago, Cincy PSLs were selling at 10x face value and the season tix could resell at 2 to 3x face value.
Plus, you get first crack at playoff and Superbowl tix.

Why couldn’t the Jets and Giants have played each other in the first real game at the new stadium? Or was that too logical to be considered? They could have even changed colors at half time. What the…??
PSL’s = holding the fan’s $ hostage for the right to buy a seat. Like one of those wonderful time share deals; not one of the best investments around. Especially when the game view from my air conditioned living room is better than the broiling hot, rainy or freezing cold view at the stadium (any stadium). Kick in the 20 yard commute, no cooler packing, a 12 pack of beer for the price of 1 at the stadium and the grill and additional TV right outside… Direct TV is a more sound (and cheaper) investment than a PSL plus you get to see way more football.

Looks like that settles on which team matters/rules in NY.
