Steelers-Ravens are ALWAYS classics. So 2008? Best rivalry in football. Hard hitting. And Ravens had 3rd ranked defense last yr buddy and played A LOT better from midseason on giving up least amount of pts. Do some research and watch games. You'll get a good look when they destroy the Jets.

Bandwagon. My family and I have been season ticket holders for the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins since 1965 and the Patriots since 1993 and BC football and Mens Basketball and U Mass Mens Basketball since 1994. I'm the apitomy of being LOYAL.
I am also lucky with being the father of a 4 yr old daughter that I can afford such a luxury at the age of 40. I hope that I can be able to keep these tickets for my daughter's children if she chooses to have kids someday.
Our teams may have been through tough times like anyone else but I will support them.
AT LEAST WE HAVE OUR TEAMS in BOSTON.
St Louis, Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville etc are all in danger of moving to LA. Or one of those teams MAY. But it is a bad day in professional sports when Los Angelos can't even support a football "professional" team. Upps I forgot Pete Carroll just bolted the semi pro USC team and left Lane Kiffin and daddy to clean up the mess from Reggie Bush.
The Lions should be happy to have the Pats or anyone play in Ford Field on Turkey Day.

@ Pure Ignorance:
Dude, go outside or something. You've been posting on this comment thing for over 12 hours now.
BTW, I do think the lions will turn it around, few years of course, but I have faith in their new coach. I don't think they'll beat the pats this year, but hey, any given sunday right?
Also, about the bandwagon fans. You are 100% right about that. I remember sitting on those crappy metal benches and looking around, and I couldn't believe how empty the place was. (been a fan literally since I was born in '83, thanks dad). Alot of new fans came along once parcells was on board, and then the year after when Kraft bought the team.
But I don't really think "bandwagon fans" are a bad thing. It's a side effect of success. It happens in almost all sports when whatever team gets good. Unless we're talking about the Packers. Those are some die-hards.

Hey Dewey, are you illiterate?? I posted that I'm not a Lions fan, but I now will root for them with all my heart when they play the pathetic Bears. You're ass must be huge to be pullin all those ridiculous facts out about how "exciting" the Bears are, thats the most absurd thing i've ever seen in my life!! Maybe i'm in the minority but I prefer good clean football over trashfests featuring 8 picks, fumbles falling Mike Brown's lap, and the occasional safety on a blocked punt!
And by the way, Urlacher f*ing sucks my giant balls!!!

Yes the Yankees won in 2009. I will admit that. I mean in the past when George was in charge. At least we are LOYAL fans and we have been sold out since 1994 when Kraft bought the Pats.
When our team is in transition, we still support our team. And when was the last time you could get a ticket in Fenway? Detroit can't even sell out a game other than the Red Wings
riiight you guys are so awesome selling out since 94...oh hey isn't that when you got Parcells and Bledsoe then went to the Superbowl only a couple years later? ooooh right that's exactly what happened. Now I won't claim to say the Lions will be some unstoppable force next season, but I will be at each and every game like I have been since I was a little kid. Oh thats right there are loyal fans here too. We sold out over 3 consecutive seasons at the Palace...and if people had still had jobs we would still be selling that shit out. Tigers were 12th in the MLB in attendance last year...Lions sold out 4 games last year despite coming off a 0-16 season...and The Red Wings are still the best team in sports right now (making a run at 18 consecutive playoff appearances...hows that for consistency dick).
Also the Bears still suck lol...

Are you inhaling dangerous amounts of polish sausage? Great up and coming team with Jay Cutler...are you blowing me?!?!? You're worse than these Pats fans that think they still have a relevant team!

A cocky, braggadocious LIONS fan...uh, huh, like THAT'S authentic. Riiiiiight.
Don't worry though, Corky--your special educator/diaper changer only left the room to laugh at the size of your head--they'll be right back to make sure you're not making out with the electrical outlets again, okay?

"...the NFL rarely wastes a great game on the captive audience that comes with Thanksgiving Day.
So we're bracing for the Bears."
Hey Florio,
What a petty, ignorant little dolt you are. A cheap shot artist. One would think you might actually have been more successful as a lawyer, given your total disconnection from the world of FACT.
That little unprovoked pot-shot against the Bears was not only poorly crafted, arbitrary and cheap, it was completely unfounded and ignorant, as well.
Your implication was that the Bears-Cowboys game would be boring, because of the Bears, right?
Well here are a few FACTS for you, you snarky two-bit mudslinging gossip-columnist HACK:
The Bears have been, and will continue to be, one of the most exciting NFL teams any fan could hope to watch.
That's an opinion, but one supported by fact, namely--that the Bears have won 9 of their last 10 overtime games dating back to 2002, and their 22 wins since overtime was instituted in 1974 are MOST in the NFL (tied w/ Broncos).
Those 22 victories have come on 14 field goals, one safety and seven touchdowns—three by the offense, three by the defense and one on special teams.
(They've also won 9 of their last 10 OT games, since 02).
In addition, they've had such classic games as the Monday Nighter against Arizona, where despite Rex's SIX turnovers, the Bears, led largely by Urlacher, mounted one of the most impressive comebacks of all time.
Bonus: Denny Green's postgame tirade.
Take last year's MNF OT thriller over the BiQueens--Cutler to Aromashodu to win it all.
Or last year's thrilling comeback wins against Pittsburgh and Seattle?
Or the year before--the classic game winning goal line stand against McNabb and the Eagles?
Or the blocked FG/extra point (?) against N.O. to keep them out of the playoffs in 08?
That same year--Orton's 98 yard TD drive in under 2 mins. to win on the ROAD, in Philly.
The year before, Hester's possum act, (then) record-setting missed FG return from the Giants end zone?
Or his two trips "to the house" in one game vs. the Rams?
Mike Brown's game winning pick-6's in back-to-back OT games in 01?
And there's many, many more.
I would make a grand appeal to OTHER NFL fans--when you know your team is about to play the Bears, do YOU expect a "boring" game?
Please--weigh in here.
I don't think even those people who DISLIKE the Bears would ever, ever, ever in a million years say they were a boring team. I just don't know where the f*ck you get half of your nonsense, Florio...out of your ass?
Besides being one of the two most historic teams in this league, the Bears have also been one its most popular and exciting--from capturing the nation's heart/imagination with the 85 Bears, the SNL skits, the Fridge, Ditka, etc etc. -- to the modern day QB dramas, defensive studs (and duds), recent FA splashes, all-time amazing special teams performances, nail-biting situations and memorable finishes, I just don't have any f*cking clue what you think you're talking about.
Does anyone?
Do YOU?

PureIgnorance,
Excellent posts backing up your screen name. I can't believe that you would choose to attack the TEAM OF THE DECADE especially being the WORST TEAM OFF THE DECADE!!
I won't bother debating with you about the Pro Bowl laden Lions.
Maybe first try winning your division, something Detroit has not done in over 20+ years and have sandbox fights with the other fans of the NFC North who always have alot to say. Just ask Jimmy Smith.
I guess there is always a first, a Lions fan talking TRASH. After all with all your winning seasons why not?? Matt Millen would be proud!

Did someone say aging Pats? Wow another watson of a post...
Sure, believe the Pats are all done. Because we all know that what happens in the prior season is a great predictor of what happens next.
However, I don't believe the Pats will win the crown this coming season as they are a young team, especially on D and will take another season or three depending how 2011 goes. But they'll be competative. The Lions...I'm not so sure about them.

As a Lions fan I really wish for our one televised nationwide game it wouldn't have been against the Patriots. We're getting better but not yet. I have a feeling of us getting a beat down in this one.
But it's ok. Sooner rather than later our team is finally turning around. Good job by Mayhew and Schwartz so far. Keep it going.
If the Lions are smart (please no jokes...LOL) then hopefully they take Okung in the draft. That would enable them to move Backus to his natural LG position and then the line would be instantly upgraded. Suh is a good option as well. Just depends on which side of the ball needs the immediate upgrade first. Obviously the playoffs are out this upcoming year so if you see a LT you can grab next year, maybe you take the beast at DT this year.
Oh well. I'm sure they know a hell of a lot more than any of us bloggers do.

To "That's Barrett" and anyone else on "the Patriots are done" bandwagon.
They have a core of younger players who now have a year or more under them and the experience will show this season.

Try to wrap your head around that when thinking about how much "the Patriots are done".
