Cowboys lead the league in staying the same

Florio explained why the Cowboys have been so quiet this offseason, and now we have proof no team has done less.

The Cowboys are the only team that hasn’t lost, added, or kept a single free agent, according to the Dallas Morning News

Despite the perception that the Redskins have been quiet, they have actually added or retained the most players with a total of nine.  The Lions are next with six players added or retained.

We don’t really have a larger point to make with this post, but larger points are overrated.

Who needs a point? It says Cowboys on the title. Cue the hatred of genius comedians of the PFT comments sections!

“The Cowboys are the only team that hasn’t lost, added, or kept a single free agent, according to the Dallas Morning News. ”
I assume this means they had no contracts expire?
Otherwise, it’s tricky to neither lose nor keep players.

This might be my all-time favorite comment on PFT, ever.
With that said, I guess the Cowboys don’t really need to do much. They’ve got a solid team already, and they’re gonna add to it through the draft. There isn’t much on the market worth going after anyway. I wish Eagles fans would understand that same point instead of whining that Andy is an idiot and Lurie is “sitting on his wallet”. Free agency ain’t gonna do it this year; it’s all about the draft. Of course, not for Chicago…but for the other 31 teams, this applies I guess.

  17. boysroll says: Mar 18, 2010 1:23 PM

when you win the nfc east two of the last three years you are a pretty damn good team. They will add a piece of two soon i am sure and with 9 draft picks add needs and depth. SB BABY….MARK IT DOWN CHUMPS!!!!
    HOW BOUT THOSE COWBOYS!!!!
4skins added 9 because they are in bad shape…last place baby.

Nice. Florio is letting you use the old “make the last line of your blog a joke” format.

  19. Bob S. says: Mar 18, 2010 1:37 PM

    that story
“As of Thursday morning, the Dallas Cowboys are among three NFL teams that have not signed a free agent from another club or re-signed a free-agent from last season’s team. The other stand-pat clubs are Baltimore and the New York Giants.
The Cowboys are the only team that has not had had any activity through adding, retaining or losing a free agent. Indianapolis and the New York Jets have each had only one transaction, adding-retaining a player.”

what a bunch of bull. giants signed sorgi and rolle. ravens traded for boldin. jets have made several transactions tomlinson and cromartie for just 2 of their “jets only one transaction”.
    what a pile of bull.

  20. Bill In DC says: Mar 18, 2010 1:53 PM

Did I oversleep? Does the season start Tommorrow or somethinng?
Maybe we should wait till at least training camp to see what they’ve done or not done.
Of course, if they were active you’d be posting articles about the reckless, stupid changes and why should they mess up a good thing, right?

  21. Bob S. says: Mar 18, 2010 1:54 PM

    and giants also lost robbins

  22. Mangy66 says: Mar 18, 2010 2:11 PM

So basically when Perez Hilton….er….Mike Florio says something, he’s bent over and flapping his cheeks talking straight out of his arse.
Specifically when it’s about the Redskins.
    Eh…nothing new.
He’s nothing more than one of the haters from Redskins Country with a hatred towards his “home” team.
It’s more telling about his general psyche than anything. Dude has some ISSUES!!! ;)

  23. XBOD says: Mar 18, 2010 2:14 PM

    @boysroll…
“They will add a piece of two…” Really? Why not add a piece of one, or three. Do you (aka Chump Master) ever read your lame ass posts? I expect more from even a 6th grader. But I’m sure you never made it that far. “SB Baby…” You’re so hopelessly delusional it’s become very entertaining to follow your babble.

You won’t make it to the NFC title game. You may make the playoffs but it’s easy to do that in your weak division. Redskins are a joke, Giants aren’t what they used to be and Eagles aren’t consistent enough.

  28. HamBurghlar says: Mar 18, 2010 3:11 PM

They also lead the league in the douchiest fans and “most overrated team to never sniff the 2nd round of the playoffs since 1996″.

That’s because they’re a terrible franchise with terrible fans. That haven’t done squat in years and continue to disappoint the few people who still openly support them. BUT at least they have a nice shiny new stadium to underachieve in!

  31. brasho says: Mar 18, 2010 3:48 PM

“that hasn’t lost, added, or kept a single free agent”
How can the Cowboys neither lose NOR keep a single free agent? Did they not have any free agents?

  32. danielcp0303 says: Mar 18, 2010 4:20 PM

A lot of talent on the team, not many positions that need an upgrade

  33. DeeDubb says: Mar 18, 2010 4:40 PM

Let’s praise Brokeback Nation for standing pat but more importantly let’s credit the fact they don’t have the money to spend like they did in the past.
IT’S NOT SHREWD MANAGEMENT, IT’S A LIGHT WALLET!!!

What, did Michael Vick not pass a pet store in his car on his way to the gym today or something?

    To All Those Ragging On The Cowboys For A Lack Of Movement In Free Agency;
Please supply a list of all the players who have been signed so far that would have made sense for Dallas to sign.

  36. aious says: Mar 18, 2010 8:35 PM

    Another year
Another pick of the Cowboys making a run in the playoffs
Another great early start for the Cowboys
Another playoff run ended early if started at all

  37. TryTheVeal says: Mar 19, 2010 5:36 AM

The Skelator is house poor……Rodeo’s and bingo nights aren’t balancing the budget…But yanno, if only a fraction of the far far away Cowgirl fans who post here, would buy season tickets, instead of providing links, and telling us how great the stadium and the big screen TV is, in the stadium they NEVER pay to go to, he would have spent the benjamins. Can’t say Jones doesn’t spend the money, but you jackasses aren’t giving him any…..Ever think of that?

  38. mediumlebowski says: Mar 19, 2010 2:05 PM

    That’s what SHE said!

  39. Big Tex says: Mar 19, 2010 4:30 PM

    @TryTheVeal
Are you serious or delirious? The Cowboys led the league in home attendance by about 50,000 over 2nd place and had 112.2% home attendance for the year. You might want to do at least a minimal amount of research before opening your mouth.

  40. Hordak says: Mar 20, 2010 9:54 PM

Come on. We all know that facts and logic have no place in a thread about the Cowboys.

  41. Mattiturd says: Mar 25, 2010 11:05 AM

PFT 101 – To generate site traffic, just make a Cowboys post. No matter how inconsequential or irrelevant. Just write anything, anything about the Cowboys. Allows all of the low-brow Cowboy haters living in their parents basements to gleefully attack a team that has dominated their own forever with silly little barbs and jibes. Funny.
