Pacman will meet with Lions before workout

Pacman Jones will work out for NFL teams on the Tulane University campus Friday morning, the same place I showed up as a freshman back in 1997.

(Since everyone around here says I look 12 years old, I was roughly -2 back then.  Yet bars still didn’t card me.)

At least four teams are expected to be present to watch Pacman: The 49ers, Lions, Jaguars and Saints, according to NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora.

It’s unclear how many teams will leave immediately after my alma mater’s Pro Day, but I’d hope more than four teams show up for that.   And yes, it’s sad that Pacman is the source of the Tulane football program getting some rare attention.

San Francisco and Detroit appear to have the most interest in Jones.

The 49ers met with Pacman last week, and the Lions will meet with him Friday morning.  Lions head coach Jim Schwartz coached Jones in Tennessee.

UPDATE:  It’s unclear whether the 49ers actually are interested.  Last week, reports emerged that coach Mike Singletary will attend the session.  Earlier this week, Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports that Singletary will not be there.

while he’s as dumb as a rock when it comes to making good decisions, you can probably pick him up for dirt cheap and he actually has some talent. i could see him suiting up in detroit, but i can’t really see singletary putting up with him for more than 15 minutes.

I know he has character issues, but I would like for the Vikings to sign this guy. He is a good CB, and the Vikings starters have some injury concerns.

Does pacman know that “making it rain” on the strippers in San Fran may not be what he’s used to?

Well, it all up to Pacman. There is always a spot for a quality defensive back in the league. It isn’t too late.

I’m still reeling from the thought of Freshman Florio getting served without being carded. Didn’t the barman become suspicious when the customer couldn’t see over the top of the bar, ordered Shirley Temples, carried an ID saying he was someone named DeMarcus Africa and kept playing Tiptoe Through the Tulips on the juke box?

  18. Ryan says: Mar 18, 2010 11:38 PM

He should not be allowed to play in the nfl, he has screwed up too many times.

  19. kev49r says: Mar 19, 2010 1:20 AM

deff not on the NINERS. yes, he is still a good player, but he is a crapy teamate. yes, we could use a corner, but few teams dont. for everything that he brings to the table, he has something to bring that down

  20. pacificamike says: Mar 19, 2010 1:24 AM

  23. RaiderChile says: Mar 19, 2010 3:24 AM

Can we just close the book on this ghetto loser. He is a loser and the NFL still wants him around. Pathetic.

  28. JimmySmith says: Mar 19, 2010 7:49 AM

Sign with Lions, the Michigan economy is terrible with the strip clubs are really hurting.
Plus he sucks and since the Lions suck also, it will take longer before anybody even notices.

What is it with all of the Jews going to Tulane?

  34. JimmyLions says: Mar 19, 2010 4:19 PM

He sucks as a CB, but he’s a good kick returner. And it’s not like he’s any more of a criminal than Ray Lewis.
