PFTV Daily: Spending extra time on overtime

As expected, the Competition Committee has proposed a change to the overtime rule.

So let’s take some time to look at the new procedure for overtime, via PFT Daily.

This week, we won’t be working overtime at PFT Daily.  There won’t be a Friday version; check back for more on Monday.

For the love of God, let the overtime thing go. Damn, this is getting worse than ESPN’s Yankees/Red Sox, Terrell Owens fetishes.

This isn’t all the way what it should be, but it’s at least a step in the right direction.
It’s funny how players always talk about how winning is the most important thing, yet when you have proposals that give you more chances to win (longer regular season, OT improvements), they don’t want to do it. And it all has to do with getting back to that locker room as fast as possible.
I’m beginning to see that championships are gravy for today’s athlete. All they really want is to make as much money as possible, while doing as little as humanly possible.

This was probably instigated by a lot of Crykings fans.

Love the photo, a bunch of Vikings standing around watching their season swirl down the toilet like a turd that their head coach is.

A solution to the problem ( if there is one ) would be to narrow the goal posts. This would cut back on the attempts made in OT and other situations. The level of competition would increase.

Just watched the NFL Films documentary on the first sudden death overtime game (1958 colts & giants). They didn’t have a problem with it then and they have stuck with it thru-out. But don’t change the rules in the playoffs if your not going to change them during the season – and don’t place the blame on the Saints game… this was a possibility since 1958.
    Who Dat?!!!

Let’s all hope that at least nine owners have the good sense to leave the game alone!!! Let the other sports have their penalty kicks, endless extra innings, ridiculous placements of the ball at the 25-yd line over and over again and other such farces.
Score more points in regulation and you don’t have to whine and cry!!! Trust me, if you do, you will win.
Either leave the rules alone, or don’t keep score and hand out ice cream cones to all players at the end of the game so no one feels that life isn’t fair!!!
