Will Blackmon signs tender, stays in Green Bay

Cornerback Will Blackmon has signed his one-year tender offer and will stick with the Green Bay Packers.

Blackmon, a restricted free agent tendered at the original-round level, signed the tender Monday prior to the start of the Packers’ offseason workout program, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.

Blackmon’s 2009 season ended when he suffered a serious knee injury in a Monday night loss to the Vikings in October.

Signing the tender gives Blackmon a $1.176 million salary in 2010.

  1. Will Blackmon once pantsed a kid named Pat Perolli at Bishop Hendricken High School. True Story.
But I fear that Florio will not assist in the awesome esoteric joke for fear of that whole Libel and Slander thing. Oh well.

  3. he wants out like all the other players in Green Bay.

  4. He carried the ball like 7 times for 300yds against my team in 2000. Also, his wife is CRAZY HOT.

That’s hilarious, considering all their guys are signing and coming back.

funny that a person (vikings fan) who calls himself “superbowl” would make such a stupid comment when his team has never even won a superbowl. jealousy is a tough thing to live with. keep reaching there queen.

  7. Wasn’t included on the list turd.
It was Bigby, Williams and Collins……Nice try though.
Yep, sign all 10 of them. No money left for that outside FA that might put you over the hump…..
Blackmon is like what, the 4th corner?
    BFD!
Steady Teddy….that’s it keep your head steady… wait for the spray.

  8. SB do some research, this kid wants to be in GB, also most if not all players since Reggie White have had nothing but great things to say about GB, it’s just to bad he can’t stay healthy.

That’s why he signed his tender you moron. Do you actually comprehend what you read or do you find it difficult much like the backs of cereal boxes you consider impossible to decipher.

  10. Can we ban Nacissistic Viking fans who only comment to get noticed? GBP, I think you’re right about Blackmon

  11. He is a depth player in Green Bay whose abilities as a returner have kept him on the roster.
He like most NFL players love the warm friendly city of Green Bay. The passion of the fans, low crime rate, great trditions, and finest facilities in the world make it the ideal place for the professional football player.
Anyone speaking differently is ignorant of the beauty, friendlinees and charm of Green Bay or is extremely jealous of that wonderful city and team.
Even if Will Blackmon is not good enough to make the Packers squad this season, he knows the happiest days of his life have been as a Green Bay Packer.

  12. Not a fan of this kid or this signing. He has nice return skills and he HAD good speed, but he can’t stay healthy.
    Dead weight, IMO.

  13. Turd huh? nice. Anyway Blackmon is a helluva kick/punt returner when healthy. What else does Thompson need to do for the bashing to stop? Blackmon has torched the vikings a couple of times. They have plenty of money. What Ted doesn;t do is spend dumb money like Snyder. Free Agency is a tool if the shoe fits. it has with Woodson and Pickett. This isnt fantasy football.

  14. Chickenragnar or what ever you call yourself, we don’t need any outside FA’s. Who we supposed to get? An overpriced J. Peppers? Pass.. leave that overpriced headache to the desperate Bears. This FA class sucks anyway. We have some of the best young talent in the league anyway, were set up to dominate for years to come!!

  15. Will Blackmon…the guy who housed a punt against the rotten Vikings special teams in the 2008 opener.

  17. Hate from all sides…I guess it’s to be expected.
I think Blackmon is gonna be our best returner option this season.
He can play some DB too….guy has the gifts, just gets broken too often….
I know people are gonna rape me for sayin’ this, but Charles Woodson was considered washed up after a series of injuries and look how that turned out…
yes, Blackmon is NO C-Dub..just offering some perspective.

  18. superbowl has now officially replaced Fan of Football as the dumbest person that comments on these stories.
    Congrats, friend.

  19. What’s inherently insane about the following type of comment…
    He’s great when he’s healthy.
People refuse to learn from history (in many more ways than one) and refuse to accept that some guys are physically not cut out for the rigors the NFL puts on a man’s body.

  20. vikings fans have packer derangement syndrome. anytime there is any post about the team from title town there is instant, moronic commentary. get a life

  21. People, please ignore superbowl. Its fairly obvious from his terrible and stupid posts that either 1) he’s got an IQ somewhere south of Forrest Gump or 2) he just wants to annoy you.

Yeah, we’ve got that market cornered on those type of posters(sic) — pot meet kettle.
BTW – I’m not saying that aren’t stupid Viking posters, but to infer that the door only swings one way is also moronic.

Sounds eerily similar to what people were saying last year.

  30. Contra, where are the Bears going to get a starting QB??? Or the Vikings for that matter. The Queen’s secondary is terrible and injured. Their O-line STARTERS gave up the 8th most sacks in the NFL (at least the Packers were starting 3 backups due to injury) and old man Winter is another year older, even if he does come back. Of course Peterson’s YPC have gone down 3 years in a row, so the O-line must be pretty stellar…..
The Williams wall is crumbling, if not suspended for 4 games next season. Things couldn’t be better.
Hopefully FAD figures out his fumbling problem and Ian Johnson doesn’t propose to anymore cheerleaders on the sideline. One of them could end up being Childress dressed up in drag again like the team flight to Pittsburgh.

Peterson missed two games his rookie year and hasn’t missed a game since. In fact he’s played in as many games (more if you count the playoffs) in the last two years as Blackmon has in his four years in the league. Silly to compare the two isn’t it? Please stop making thing up to support your case.

Now I understand your screen name – you don’t know what’s going on at all!
Funny how that terrible pass defense gave up fewer net yards passing in two playoff games against the 7th & 8th ranked passing offenses, than the Packers gave up in one playoff game against the 12th ranked passing offense. In fact, they gave up less total yardage in two games than the Packers #2 D gave up in one. A clear indication the Williams Wall is crumbling. What an idiot!
I will agree on the O-line though – needs some serious atention. And I also agree the Bears aren’t going to overtake the Pack for second in the division.

  33. Contra you football clown free agency doesnt work. No team will leap over another due to free agency. Overspending for washed up has beens is insane. It is a desperate attempt to overcome drafting woes in the past. Chicago has a shot at being a good team bringing Martz in. What Green Bay has going into next year is a juggernaut. And they know it. It is time. They have spent going on 5 years building this team from the depths of hell. It is now Super Bowl or bust time. At some point you have to say we are finished building and now its our time to make a run. thompson is saying that without saying it this offseason.

Nice cherry picked stats. You now pick playoff games as representing an entire season? BTW, I believe you actually LOST to the Cardinals and the Packers/Vikings were clearly in passing shootout on both sides. The fact is, the Packers lacked major depth on defense not because of lack of talent on the team, but due to injury with losing 3 CB’s. Hell, they had so many injuries they had to sign guys off the street and start a rookie as a nickel back. The Cardinals had enough depth at WR, to make them put those players on the field. Guess what? Injuries heal. The Vikings sucked in many facets in the secondary and their O-line with STARTERS.

I agree whole heartedly with this prediction, I am new to this site, so my opinion counts not……. but anyone with ANY football knowledge can see the Packers are built to win (now) and for the future. How could a reasonable football mind compare the rest of the NFC north to these guys? Flame away …

  39. I can’t believe all of Ted’s sheep on here, saying we don’t need no stinkin’ FA.
News flash: Yes we do. The draft is enough of a crapshoot already, and that’s BEFORE brilliant moves like Hawk and Harrell in the first. You need to sign FA’s, actual proven talent, to make up for your shortcomings.
Look at every successful GM in the league. No, you idiots, that doesn’t include Terrible Ted. All of them have made at least one major FA signing when they needed it. Where would the Saints be without Brees? Where would the Vikings have been without Allen, Favre, and Longwell? Would our own overhyped defense have been anything without Woodson and Pickett?
Most of all, would the ’96 Pack have won anything without Rison, Robinson and White? Of course not. They would have been one and done, just like the ’09 Pack, just like the Ted Seahawks were for five straight years until they canned him and brought in someone who knew how to sign some damn FA!
So, do we need to sign FA from time to time? Only if you want to win more than a few regular season games. Sadly, all of you Ted worshipers seem very pleased with one and done. That’s good, because it’s all we’re ever going to see until he’s gone. Get used to it.
