Will Blackmon signs tender, stays in Green Bay

Cornerback Will Blackmon has signed his one-year tender offer and will stick with the Green Bay Packers.

Blackmon, a restricted free agent tendered at the original-round level, signed the tender Monday prior to the start of the Packers’ offseason workout program, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.

Blackmon’s 2009 season ended when he suffered a serious knee injury in a Monday night loss to the Vikings in October.

Signing the tender gives Blackmon a $1.176 million salary in 2010.

Will Blackmon once pantsed a kid named Pat Perolli at Bishop Hendricken High School. True Story.
But I fear that Florio will not assist in the awesome esoteric joke for fear of that whole Libel and Slander thing. Oh well.

He is a depth player in Green Bay whose abilities as a returner have kept him on the roster.
He like most NFL players love the warm friendly city of Green Bay. The passion of the fans, low crime rate, great trditions, and finest facilities in the world make it the ideal place for the professional football player.
Anyone speaking differently is ignorant of the beauty, friendlinees and charm of Green Bay or is extremely jealous of that wonderful city and team.
Even if Will Blackmon is not good enough to make the Packers squad this season, he knows the happiest days of his life have been as a Green Bay Packer.

  18. Strick says: Mar 18, 2010 11:44 AM

They have plenty of money. What Ted doesn;t do is spend dumb money like Snyder. Free Agency is a tool if the shoe fits. it has with Woodson and Pickett. This isnt fantasy football.

Contra, where are the Bears going to get a starting QB??? Or the Vikings for that matter. The Queen’s secondary is terrible and injured. Their O-line STARTERS gave up the 8th most sacks in the NFL (at least the Packers were starting 3 backups due to injury) and old man Winter is another year older, even if he does come back. Of course Peterson’s YPC have gone down 3 years in a row, so the O-line must be pretty stellar…..
The Williams wall is crumbling, if not suspended for 4 games next season. Things couldn’t be better.
Hopefully FAD figures out his fumbling problem and Ian Johnson doesn’t propose to anymore cheerleaders on the sideline. One of them could end up being Childress dressed up in drag again like the team flight to Pittsburgh.

Peterson missed two games his rookie year and hasn’t missed a game since. In fact he’s played in as many games (more if you count the playoffs) in the last two years as Blackmon has in his four years in the league. Silly to compare the two isn’t it? Please stop making thing up to support your case.

Now I understand your screen name – you don’t know what’s going on at all!
Funny how that terrible pass defense gave up fewer net yards passing in two playoff games against the 7th & 8th ranked passing offenses, than the Packers gave up in one playoff game against the 12th ranked passing offense. In fact, they gave up less total yardage in two games than the Packers #2 D gave up in one. A clear indication the Williams Wall is crumbling. What an idiot!
I will agree on the O-line though – needs some serious atention. And I also agree the Bears aren’t going to overtake the Pack for second in the division.

Nice cherry picked stats. You now pick playoff games as representing an entire season? BTW, I believe you actually LOST to the Cardinals and the Packers/Vikings were clearly in passing shootout on both sides. The fact is, the Packers lacked major depth on defense not because of lack of talent on the team, but due to injury with losing 3 CB’s. Hell, they had so many injuries they had to sign guys off the street and start a rookie as a nickel back. The Cardinals had enough depth at WR, to make them put those players on the field. Guess what? Injuries heal. The Vikings sucked in many facets in the secondary and their O-line with STARTERS.

I can’t believe all of Ted’s sheep on here, saying we don’t need no stinkin’ FA.
News flash: Yes we do. The draft is enough of a crapshoot already, and that’s BEFORE brilliant moves like Hawk and Harrell in the first. You need to sign FA’s, actual proven talent, to make up for your shortcomings.
Look at every successful GM in the league. No, you idiots, that doesn’t include Terrible Ted. All of them have made at least one major FA signing when they needed it. Where would the Saints be without Brees? Where would the Vikings have been without Allen, Favre, and Longwell? Would our own overhyped defense have been anything without Woodson and Pickett?
Most of all, would the ’96 Pack have won anything without Rison, Robinson and White? Of course not. They would have been one and done, just like the ’09 Pack, just like the Ted Seahawks were for five straight years until they canned him and brought in someone who knew how to sign some damn FA!
So, do we need to sign FA from time to time? Only if you want to win more than a few regular season games. Sadly, all of you Ted worshipers seem very pleased with one and done. That’s good, because it’s all we’re ever going to see until he’s gone. Get used to it.
