Dolphins host Rashad Jeanty

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rashad Jeanty had a disappointing year in 2009. In 2010 he may be headed elsewhere.

Jeanty visited the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel reports.

A Miami native, Jeanty played strongside linebacker in the Bengals’ 4-3 defense, and the Dolphins would use him as an outside linebacker in their 3-4 defense.

In his first three years in the league, from 2006 to 2008, Jeanty was usually a starter for the Bengals. But during the 2009 regular season, Jeanty started only one game, and he broke his leg in the Bengals’ playoff game.

The Bengals tendered Jeanty, who wasn’t drafted, at the original round level, which gives them the right to match any offer but means the Dolphins would not have to give up any compensation if they sign him and the Bengals don’t match it.
