Graves: No active contract talks with Dockett

We’re unabashed fans of Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett’s twitter account.

Part of the fun is figuring out exactly what he means at times, and the tweet below piqued curiosity Wednesday.

“I got some Great
news BIRDGANG can’t tell yall
yet! But when and if it happens I will celebrate at the highest point
EVER! 49ers Who? Lol,” Dockett said.

We’ve been down the announcement road before with Dockett, so decided to hold off writing.  (Yes, that happens with occasional subjects.)

Now we’ve got an update: Darren Urban of the Cardinals website confirmed with G.M. Rod Graves that Dockett was not talking about a possible contract extension.  The team is not “engaged in any active discussions” at this time.

That’s to be expected.  If Dockett got a deal this offseason, it likely wouldn’t come until much later in the offseason. 

In the meantime, we’ll just wait for his next “major announcement” because we’ve got nothing better to do.
