Dez Bryant attended Pacman's workout

A day after receiver Dez Bryant defended his character in an interview on a Miami radio station, Bryant attended the workout held by former NFL cornerback Pacman Jones.

A member of the media pointed out Jason La Canfora’s report that Bryant was there, prompting the member of the media to ask, “Why would Dez Bryant be within 1,000 miles of Pacman Jones?”

It’s a great question, and it’s the kind of thing that will make people who have doubts about Dez Bryant wonder whether he really gets it.

Perhaps Dez Bryant was smart enough to realize that Pacman could be COVERING him and so we was doing some early scouting to see what his competition looked like!
    Duh.

They’ve been working out together in NOLA with famed athletic trainer Duke Rousse for the last 3 months. That’s why he’s within 1,000 miles of Pacman. But I wouldn’t expect florio to do any real research on the subject

  5. DevinMr711 says: Mar 20, 2010 12:44 AM

He was scouting a guy that he might have to go up against on Sunday.

  6. Gautam says: Mar 20, 2010 12:47 AM

he definitely wanted to show his skills playing against a guy like Pacman

  7. DB26 says: Mar 20, 2010 12:50 AM

Again, posturing…. Jason LaConfora reports every bit of perceived bad news about Dez Bryant. He has an agenda folks!

pacman is/was a really good corner… thats a nice person to get some tips from on how to adjust corners and what the great receivers do in the nfl in comparison to the just ok ones

    Was Tebow throwing passes….?

  10. mustbechris says: Mar 20, 2010 12:59 AM

well if they were working out together, doing receiving drills with pacman jones can make a receiver look pretty good. maybe he’ll help his draft stock after all.
in all honesty though…for a guy who’s trying to paint himself to be a good guy or a changed guy or something…why is he in the same state as pacman jones, let alone at his workout? of all people? seriously? it’d be nice to see him fall out of the 1st round…shame that the cowboys will never let that happen.

I love the idea that Pacman Jones is so virulent and evil that simply attending his workout can corrupt you.

This has Deion Sanders’s fingerprints all over it.

I was thinking the same thing.
habib–If he wanted to study NFL corners, then he should stay away from Pacman’s workout and go watch some film of Revis or Woodson.

  27. OscarMooseFarmer says: Mar 20, 2010 5:02 AM

They both worked with Deion Sanders i think… Probably know each other from “Prime U” or something..

  28. ebr362 says: Mar 20, 2010 5:22 AM

This one is a head shaker! Right before the draft and you pick the artist formally known as pacman to be seen around? Way to show the NFL execs how far you have matured, your advisor is well worth the money, the first round is over rated anyway! DOPE!

  34. Hustle For More says: Mar 20, 2010 7:35 AM

    ^^^ habibfromnewdehli:
What do you mean “WE was doing some early scouting?”
Dez is that you? Deion is that you? Dez’s personal assistant, is that you? Dez’s agent, is that you?
    Dumbass slipped up with “we”
Obviously, you made a ridiculous name to try and derail your identity… I knew you were part of the Dez camp, or Dez himself, after that first line, one of the dumbest things I’ve read.
Why would you be scouting Pac man out of all people? Pac man can’t even make a team, where would Pac be covering Dez at? If you really wanted to scout competition, I’m sure you can find some real corners that are on an NFL roster, rather than scouting one that is desperate for a contract.
Dez and smart probably shouldn’t be in the same sentence… it’s like putting Dez and top 10 pick in the same sentence – not in this life time.

  35. Popeye says: Mar 20, 2010 8:31 AM

dez and deion are friends…pac and deion are close…..anyone else need a lesson?

  36. KingJoe! says: Mar 20, 2010 8:44 AM

Well Dez Bryants stocked just dropped by at least 3 or 4 spots. This guy is really stupid. How does his agent let this happen? How do any of his friends let this happen. Just plain stupid. I would not want him pick my my team in the first team. I have seen how disruptive out of control players can be. I hate to say this by the Cowboys seem to get it last year and certainly were more successful. Still to many GM’s think their team can handle it, it never ever works out. Bryant should drop out of the first round where little guaranteed cash is expected. If this dude gets lots of cash up front, he will be that much harder to handle.

  37. jallen69 says: Mar 20, 2010 8:50 AM

“Perhaps Dez Bryant was smart enough to realize that Pacman could be COVERING him and so we was doing some early scouting to see what his competition looked like!
    Duh.”
Habib, you got to be joking? Please tell me you are!

  38. Maddog says: Mar 20, 2010 9:26 AM

I love the “scouting the competition” logic. Pacman can’t cover anybody. WVU grad who watched every game of his college career. Great returner, fearless, probably out of stupidity, but the guy just can’t cover. Can make it rain like a mother though.

  39. trimitdan says: Mar 20, 2010 9:29 AM

Maybe he was “scouting” the best strip clubs and dentists for gold teeth. Seriously, this makes everything he said the day before sound like a joke! Once a lying thug, always a lying thug. He’ll be holding down a car wash engineering job before long, right beside blount!

  40. hogue34 says: Mar 20, 2010 9:48 AM

Sounds like the makings of another prima donna punk receiver who’s career goal is to make a police blotter while wearin his bling bling!

  41. jordanv says: Mar 20, 2010 10:33 AM

I guess it’s okay for him to be around pacman, as there was guns, drugs, money, and titties…….but when you alighn yourself with the wrong kind of people bad things are gonna happen, pacman and his homies have proved again and again that they are bad people!

  42. inmotion2207 says: Mar 20, 2010 11:54 AM

What is the problem with Dez going to a workout? This is a free country so the man can do whatever he wants to do as long as he isn’t hurting anyone else. He’s not a slave so just stop hating and trying to find fault, and stop stereo typing and prejudging a man because he’s not doing what you want him to do!

  43. Jungle Juice says: Mar 20, 2010 12:12 PM

It really doesn’t matter why he was there, it was a stupid move regardless due to PR, perception of teams etc.
He doesn’t get it. He needs a life coach.

  44. Hap says: Mar 20, 2010 12:59 PM

Pacman attended Dexter Manley’s workout yester-year.
