There really isn’t any drama regarding exclusive rights free agents because players no choice but to return to their original team.
But since free agency activity has slowed to a trickle this Saturday afternoon, we’re happy to find any breaking news.
The Dolphins have retained all three of their exclusive-rights free agents, signing kicker Dan Carpenter, wide receiver Davone Bess, and tight end Joey Haynos this week, according to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
The three players show how the Ireland/Parcells team has found quality players for cheap.
Bess was undrafted and led the Dolphins in receptions. Carpenter was undrafted and made it to the Pro Bowl as an alternate because of his consistency. (And because he was nearby.) Haynos was signed off Green Bay’s practice squad and started eight games in 2009.
