McCloughan mentioned as a candidate to join the Raiders

Recently, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that league insiders who connect dots believe that former (eventually) 49ers G.M. Scot McCloughan could be hired by the Packers.

There’s another team to which the tea leaves potentially point — the Raiders.

As Jerry McDonald of points out, McCloughan’s father, Kent, is a long-time scout with Oakland and McCloughan’s brother, Dave, works worked for the team as well.  McDonald explains that, during joint practices between the teams over the past couple of years, “McCloughan made long stops at the golf cart where Al Davis was watching,
paying his respects and trading ideas.”

Of course, McCloughan will be hired by no one until the 49ers cut him loose, and there’s a chance that the Niners will try to put him on ice until the draft has come and gone.  But if anyone thinks that will keep him from providing insight to potential employers regarding his assessment of incoming rookies, we would like to offer you at a reasonable price the bridge that connects San Francisco and Oakland.

David McCoughlan is Director of College Scouting for the 49ers, not the Raiders.

Dang, as if it wasn’t bad enough working for the 9’ers, now it’s rumored he’ll join the cult across the bay. Ouch.

Glad to see you finally posted this link Florio. Dave’s still employed with SF thus putting him in an obviously awkward position for him.

This is very interesting as there has been no word on why he’s leaving the Niners, however, since I am in the fantasy football business I have a close tie with an NFL source in the bay areas that said hes been passing along NFL Draft Strategies to other NFL teams…LOL

I dunno if hes been responasable for the Niners draft the last couple years. And if he has been we know the Raiders draft picks wont be getting any better. The niners drafts the last couple of years have been pretty bad. Not Al Davis bad but close.

Nobody will succeed with the Raiders until Al Davis dies. It’s that simple.

Cant be any worse? Working for the niners is bad enough? U guys are morons. McCloughan is HIGHLY regarded as a great talent evaluator and is respected around the league.
Last couple years drafts have been pretty bad!? So Gore, Vernon Davis, Patrick Willis, Joe Staley, Micheal Crabtree are all bad picks huh…? Lmao you dont know anything about football. Your probably just stuck in your own teams world and do not know whats going on around the NFL. Davis, Gore, and Willis alll have been to multiple pro bowls with the exception of Davis but he’ll def be there. Crabtree is going to be an All-Pro. Niners will be the team to beat in the NFC this season, just watch

And you all thought Raider fans were jerks, ha!
Those are pretty harsh words. It’s just a game, I would’nt wish death upon someone like that. Further more, I don’t think it would be”that simple”. If that happened, then what? Superbowl baby?! Well then u better hope he lives a long time missy
