I see Iupati going to the Steelers… With the way Trai Essex flopped, and flailed around last season, we need some improvement there… After that we can address the DLine, ILB, and CB positions. I’d also like to see us re-sign Willie Parker too. He still has some football left in him. We have needs, but not any real major needs.

Agree 100% that McClain probably won’t be Al’s choice…He almost NEVER takes LBs in round one.
Also agree with you that if we could get one of the top two DLs or top two OTs at #8 that would be great, but if none of those guys are available (a possibility), I hope the Raiders either take McClain (best player still available at a NEED position in round one and look OT or DT in round two) or try and trade down to a team looking for a QB (like the Jets did for Sanchez last year) ESPECIALLY if the Rams DO NOT take Bradford.
Taking a marginal talent like Campbell, a head case like Davis appears to be, or ANOTHER safety (aka Taylor Mays) doesn’t really address the fact that we need blue chip talent RIGHT NOW to plug into the OL and DL to shore up our HORRIBLE line play.
If Suh&McCoy (DTs) and Okung&Williams (OTs) are ALL gone by #8 then I hope Al breaks with his normal tendency (just he appears to have done with Free Agency) and either takes the best player at a need position still availabe or trades back to add picks (especially since #1 in 2011 is already in the Patriot’s hands).
Anyway…Understand it is all a crap shoot anyway until the Rams decided what to do (draft Bradford, trade for McNabb, etc.).

Raiderredleg. I know the needs , you know the needs a mf blindman can see the needs, im just saying that i dont expect those needs (OT,DT,MLB) to be addressed that early in the draft. Two years ago i wanted Clady and we drafted Mcfadden (not that i dislike Dmac and i beleive him and Mike Bush will be solid this year if avoiding injuries). Last year it was reported we were looking at cal center Mack and i had this crazy thought that we were considering trading back and picking up him along with a wide reciever for giving up our high pick. Both lines have been neglected in the draft for far too long and ideally I would like trent Williams or Okung but one of them has too fall to us. some people are saying Baluga but i cant see al drafting another cant miss Tackle from Iowa.

Raiders don’t normally take LBs in the first round, but looking at ILB Rolando McClain’s draft bio he should looks like he would fill a MAJOR need for the Raiders (i.e. a run stuffing LB). #8 is high, but after taking offense the last three years (Russell, DMAC, DHB) I would hope Al Davis goes defensive.

Clausen @ #30 ? to the Vikings ? You need to lay off the hooch when doing your mock draft. He may fall no doubt. But I am relatively sure another team with who has multiple picks would get into the first round to take him way before 30th.

I would love to see Clausen in MN, but someone always always reaches for at least a few quarterbacks. If a team like Buffalo or Carolina doesn’t take him with their first pick, they’ll trade back into the first round if he’s still there around the 30th pick. On the other hand, the Vikings do get lucky sometimes with players sliding…

After seeing DHB going so high last year I know ANYTHING is possible! Just don’t see Brown jumping ahead of the usual names your read about (Okung, Davis, Williams, Bulaga, etc.). As dacolan stated above Brown is a smallish, ZBS type guy so the number of teams interested in Brown is smaller than if he were a prototypical size OT (LT or RT).
Anyway if Bradford goes #1 and the Lions or Bucs DO NOT take Suh and McCoy (or vice versa) #2 and #3 I bet you will see someone try and trade up to grab one of them.

The Giants are going to try as hard as they can to trade back if Rolando McClain is taken before 15. I dont think they’ll take a O-lineman at 15 unless its Trent Williams or Bryan Bulaga, they took Hakeem Nicks because when they brought him in for a private workout he didnt drop a pass and we definitely couldnt go into last year without a Wideout but we arent that desperate about replacing Kareem McKenzie, they might take a Olinemen in the second round but no way they take Anthony Davis at 15 I’ll throw up in my mouth if thats what they do. I’d check the date of that draft site. I have a draft magazine that was printed a while back.
Before the workouts etc.
Most mocks I see have Brown as a mid to high 1st rounder.

Valid points on Brown, but still NO WAY he goes #8…As far as Seattle taking him, if Pete Carrol is willing to give up as much as he did for Charlie Whitehurst, then he DEFINITELY might reach for Brown at #14. But a pass rushing DE is a bigger need for them and their should be good DE value at #14 (they can always go OT in the second round…Deep draft for OT prospects).

Any draft site listing Charles Brown as a third rounder lacks credibility. He’ll go early second at the latest, and is widely projected to go late first. He was a first-team All-American and voted best OL in the PAC-10 by the defensive linemen and coaches. The only real knock on him is his size. He’s probably only suited to a zone blocking scheme in the NFL like they play in Den (and are installing in Sea). I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pete Carrol use #14 on Brown.

With Iupati moving up on draft boards, the Colts seem to have their eye on Pouncey. I don’t disagree but the Colts still have a big need at corner. Fortunately for them they seem stacked everywhere else, so they can take two guards and two corners in the draft.

Questions of whether Spiller can hold up? Same size as Chris Johnson… judging how he has done, I think Spiller will do just fine. Spiller is great at avoiding the big hits, just like Johnson. Spiller is going in the top-15.

Giants definitely go D. Will Beatty wasn’t too terrible as a rookie pressed into duty last year. Kareem can either stay healthy or get out. Hate to do that to a fellow Lion, but he’s not effective anymore.
