Mankins staying away from offseason program

Tom Brady is expected to join his teammates in the offseason program soon, but guard Logan Mankins is not.

Mankins plans to stay at his ranch in California until there is significant contract movement, according to Albert Breer of the Boston Globe

The two-time Pro Bowler is an unsigned restricted free agent and was tendered at the highest first and third-round level.  He will make $3.268 million if he signs his tender before June 15.

It’s unclear if the Patriots are moving towards re-signing Mankins long-term this offseason.

  1. Can’t blame him. May as well make the most of the tiny bit of leverage he’s got before it disappears.

  2. It seems the CBA’s uncertainty is delaying alot of contract issues.Correct me if I am wrong but I think only a few RFA’s have been resigned to a long term contract.
There was alot of talk on Boston sports radio today on how it is effecting Brady and Manning’s contracts.

  3. Since Wilfork has been taken care of I’d have thought Mankins and Gostkowski would also have been extended by this time. Seems like a verrry unnerving quiet coming from Foxboro. No action in free agency, nothing major, and now this.

  4. so right now the Pats don’t have Warren, Brady or Mankins in camp. all for important reasons of course
