Ray Lewis wants another ring "bad"

It has been a decade since linebacker Ray Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens won a Super Bowl.  It was the first and only championship of Lewis’ career.

Lewis, who’ll soon be 35 and starting his 15th NFL season, desperately wants another one.

“I only play for one thing,” Lewis told Mike Duffy of BaltimoreRavens.com.  “I want another ring bad.  I want another championship.”

The arrival of receivers Anquan Boldin and Donte’ Stallworth and the return of Derrick Mason has encouraged Lewis.

“I really want a ring with the guys that I have in-house right now.  We have a close-knit group, and that’s what builds championships,” Lewis said.

The Ravens have gotten close the past two years, making it to the AFC title game and the division round in the first two seasons of coach John Harbaugh’s tenure.  In a still-tough AFC, it’s anyone’s guess whether they can nail down another NFL title.

    *Yawn*
Show me a player that doesnt want to win a championship? Even Jabust Russell, in all his lazy sucky glory, would love to win the big one.
    None story. Stop reaching.

  4. JPeezy says: Mar 24, 2010 11:04 PM

You are not winning anything with Bert at QB, not a chance. Unless they start giving some sort of rings out for being the 3rd guy to jump on a pile and the first to celebrate. If that gets you a ring Ray Lewis would have two hands full!!!
Or perhaps his boyfriend/mancrush Ray Rice will propose.
Only chances ya got Ray-Ray, only chance ya got!!!

With the way things look in the AFC and the AFCN, Ray Lewis will probably be left wanting when he retires within the next two years. He’ll probably come back after a mediocre ’10 year, only to have the team have a down year in ’11 and retire.

This much is clear: Jacinth Baker, 21, and Richard Lollar, 24, two men who had come to Atlanta from Akron, Ohio, in search of opportunity, were stabbed to death not with wild swings of a knife, but by killers who apparently knew how to kill.

  10. Iscull says: Mar 24, 2010 11:14 PM

This team is absolutely stacked. I don’t know which side will rank higher this season, the offense or defense? Boldin, Mason, and Stallworth make for one great WR core. Stallworth ran a 4.4 at the workouts he held for teams. He is also 6′ and weighs 220 lbs. He played at around 205 in Cleveland. I think he is in much better shape after training intensely all of last year and recovering from all of his injuries.

Baltimore is the ultimate “Smoke & mirrors” team.
They’re defense was incredible in 2000, but didn’t they go 20 quarters IN A ROW without an offensive TD that year?
A decade later & the only thing that has changed is the defense has gotten old.
The passing offense is so predictable it is sad:
“Run Mason on a 10 yard curl, if he’s not open throw it to the RB”
“Oh yeah, if Heap’s labia isn’t torn, throw him a few”
Now Boldin can run the slant, Mason can still run the curl, & the RBs will get 100 catches. And Heap will tear his hymen in training camp & be hobbled all year.
    Go Ray!!

  28. Sheriff04 says: Mar 24, 2010 11:46 PM

Its possible. They are always known for their great defense. Well that has to come out this year. It has the potential, but regardless of potential, it actually needs to happen. They need to get lucky with injuries, cause that can throw any chance away.
Flacco needs to come up big this year. He’s been impressive his first two years, and this year, more than ever, he needs to come out huge this year. With the help of the new WRs, their corps looks strong and its possible. With their RB situation, its possible. They have a chance, lets make it happen.

If this is all you can report, why don’t you go to bed and wait till tomorrow. Or next week, other then the owners meeting stuff, your “news” in the last couple of weeks hasn’t even been news worthy.

I’ve always loved the way Ray Lewis plays the game and as a Steelers fan, I can say that we have not had anyone like him since Lambert (although Woodley has potential).
That said, the Ravens will be a formidable opponent in the entire AFC next year, make no mistake. They have all of the ingredients. If the Steelers can’t do it, I’d much rather see the Ravens get there ahead of the Patriots, with the most arrogant coach, QB and fans of all time.
And please…the Saints had their nice year. When they slip back to 7-7 next year, and when the Bungals show that sometime the stars align and 2009 was an aberration, we’ll have some normalcy again.

Well Ray, if you guys don’t find a QB who is able to stay a little farther above 80.3 QB rating and who threw 14 TD’s vs 12 INT’s, you are not going to win a championship real good.
You can have Jerry Rice and Randy Moss in their prime out there, but your Delaware QB that you drafted way to high just doesn’t have the talent, esp. at crunch time.
Ray is old, Ed Reed (best player in the league) is hurt always, and Mason is slow and old. It is not happening. Ray was great once. Maybe Kreider pancaked him one too many times.

This is such a non-story…and all the “he would KILL for another ring” are oh so predictable. But since like 50 people have posted that, I really get to wondering whether people out there actually think that Ray killed somebody? People think FoxNews is an actual news station, so I guess anything is possible. It just never ceases to amaze me how many idiots live in this world…and we wonder why our coutnry is going to hell? Now if you don’t actually believe it, and are just saying it in a lame attempt to be funny, I got no problem with that. But if you really believe Ray killed someone you really need to check your facts, or have your head examined, or something…
and to the guy who says these two victims just came to Atlanta looking for opportunity: Really? The opportunity to attack a group of people, unprovoked, and to bash a champagne bottle over someone’s head? Is that your definition of “opportunity”? Sounds to me they were looking for trouble, not opportunity. They didn’t deserve to be killed, no doubt. but they sure as hell weren’t innocent victims…

  106. A True Fan says: Mar 25, 2010 10:28 AM

Get over it already. We mention the team that left Baltimore in 1983 and we get crucified. Well you should just shut up about Ray and move on. The Ravens WILL have a great year this year. They are proven to be perennial contenders and have a great organization. Modell should be in the Hall for all of his contributions to the NFL…and you should be thanking Modell for establishing the NFL on free network tv.

Isn’t being accused of murder and being a convicted murderer different just like being a convicted rapist and being accused of sexual assault??
You shouldn’t let you blind allegiance to your team keep you from realizing that both these guys are pieces of shit.

Im always up to date on the Steelers . 24/7 365 . This season ? Are you sure ? Ive heard that for a long time now . From the Purple people eaters . To the late 90”s . By the way do you enjoy watching the NFL networks America’s Game , The missing rings ? Love to see Chris Carter cry in that . Truly a kleenex moment for all .
Now back to this coming season . This is the year huh ? You sure ? Brett isnt coming back yet . Gotta wait to the first preseason game to fnd out .

Steelers suck, enough said. Also, one might wonder what will happen when that fat horny loser Rapistburger lines up under Center. If I were Justin Hartwig (leader of one of the sh*ttiest lines in the NFL), I’d consider retirement!

  115. Pervy Harvin says: Mar 25, 2010 11:08 AM

Brett is coming back 100%. Remember I said it. There is no question about his arm this season. 13 million on the table by the Vikings, more Wrangler and Sears money, numerous prime time games.Media ass kissing of epic proportions.Same good team waiting for him. Come on man! We all know Brett has an ego the size of Saturn. Do you really think he will let that go to listen to the crickets in Mississippi?? Don’t think Deanna doesn’t love the spot light either.

AllThat – it’s just that it wasn’t Ray’s knife & he never possessed it. Minor details in some minds, I’m sure…but you might as well be singing that song yourself as it relates to these killings, as you had as much interaction with the knife as did Ray.

@rjaxx & momar3000: Glad to see you 2 ladies called each other before posting, when’s the wedding? And methinks going on TRIAL for murder is a bit more harsh than a sexual assault case that’s still going on (and will be dropped quite soon). My blind allegiance is to the Steeler orginization, but Ben is wearing out his welcome with his shenanigans. Just saying that the 2 cases are NOWHERE NEAR related, this one is WAY less harsh than Stabby McStabberson’s back in 2000 and that I hate Baltimore and their fans. So take from that what you will.

  120. rjaxx says: Mar 25, 2010 1:33 PM

    @HamBurghlar
I’m not saying that being on trial for murder and being accused of sexual assualt are one in the same. Obviously they are not. I guess the point i was trying to make is they are both assholes. Every team has them, the guy who still tries to act like he’s still from the “hood” (even though he has MILLIONS) and him and his “homies” resort to killing someone because they probably felt disrespected or something else stupid. Then you have the guy who has probably had everything he’s every wanted (girls, money, coaches bending over backwards) all because he can throw the ball 65 yards, so he gets a little rough with a girl in a bathroom stall and probably takes it a little to far because no one has ever told him no. With the money these guys make and will continue to make, the trend of athletes thinking they are above the law(and they usually do get off…sorry Plaxico)will continue forever. Pieces of shit usually turn into HUGE PIECES OF SHIT when you give them a bunch of money.
PS- Loved the “Stabby McStabberson’s” Line.
PPS-momar3000 is not my type…. Raven’s fans are losers.

Some witnesses report that an argument began when someone stepped on the foot of a person in Lewis’ entourage. Other reports say an argument over football led to the fight.
No, they didn’t deserve to be killed.

Trust me, we hate Steeler fans. I could probably tolerate them you guys if all of women were not 300+ pounds and obnoxious! Also, if Sh*tsburgh is such a great place, why are all of you moving to the Baltimore area? Is it because you losers have nothing up there but sports. YES.

  125. sandy70 says: Mar 25, 2010 9:12 PM

Other things that are just as cool and timeless today as the “Ray would kill for another ring” quips from the vast unwashed masses:
    the mullet
disco night at the skating rink
    Zubaz pants
    the Coors Light party ball
    CB radios
    Terry Bradshaw singing
    The Geraldo Rivera Show
    New Coke/Pepsi Free
    the 8-track cassette
    the Gremlin
    the XFL
    Beavis and Butthead
I bet we get another 100+ people to type the same original and witty statement though. But I suppose that’s what happens when you teach slope-headed mouth-breathers how to type.

  126. HamBurghlar says: Mar 26, 2010 9:56 AM

@Bump: Thanks for the input, but noone asked. And noone wants to move to B’more, believe me, but if a job came open there that a Pittsburgher couldn’t refuse, say like a gun salesman or a forensic pathologist, it’s a no brainer!

  127. Bump says: Mar 26, 2010 11:53 AM

@HamBurghlar: A gun salesman or pathologist, well, you are right, that is an upgrade from putting coleslaw and french fries on burgers (A.K.A. a glorified sandwich artist) or a pixie dust sprinkler at Kennywood Amusement Park!

  128. Bump says: Mar 26, 2010 9:34 PM

Some how dumb ass balmoore fans think that because they got Boldin that all of their receiving problems are now over. That was the Boldin of two maybe three years ago. You missed the bus. He is a good possession receiver in the nfc west, but wait till he hits the afc north he is going to get his head knocked off. b-more doesn’t have a chance ray ray is going to go down with injury this year and your corners blow.. Ray ray is old and you all paid WAY too much loot for Suggs. You all have had a nice run, but you are going to be bottom dwelers for a while now.

The only thing I am going to state in this “defense” of Ray is that, learn how to spell country you idiot. Secondly, Ray got off on a technicality and he really did deserve jail time just like that other bad excuse for a black man in Gilbert Arenas. I am a black man and the only thing I am going to say about this is that black folks when they have money have a WHOLE lot of power. Regardless of your fandom Ray Lewis deserved to do jail time. He tampered with evidence (the coat he burned with blood on it) and he was less than cooperative. Ray is a hell of a talent with a whole lot less common sense. Regardless of all those things the ravens will slowly decline.

I think one of Rocky Bleier’s four Super Bowl rings is still up for bid on ebay. Hey, Ray, make an offer!!!
