With Saints safety Darren Sharper dealing with knee surgery only two days before the launch of free agency, he didn’t make the kind of splash into the free-agent market that everyone had expected.
As it now stands, Sharper is expected to stay on the shelf until after the draft. Then, once the pieces fall in places and a team that needs a safety doesn’t get the safety it needed, a market is expected to emerge for Sharper.
There’s still a chance he’ll return to New Orleans, but it can only happen once he realizes that no one else will pay him more than what the Saints are willing to do.
