Jets expect Belichick to be watching Hard Knocks

The silliest concern we’ve seen raised in the New York media since the Jets’ involvement in Hard Knocks was announced is the notion the team could be at a competitive disadvantage.

Anyone voicing that worry hasn’t watched previous seasons.  Nothing is given away, although a few sensitive players could have their feelings hurt when they hear what’s said behind closed doors.

The leadership in New York doesn’t sound too worried, and joked that their rivals to the North to be watching the show closely.

“Do I think Bill Belichick will be watching us?” G.M. Mike Tannebaum asked.  “If I was
working for Bill, these are the type of projects he’d have me doing.”

Ryan said plays and strategy won’t be given away

“I think, you know — I trust, you know, let’s just throw a guy out there — anybody,” Ryan said. “Bill Belichick. Let’s just throw him out there.”  (Cue uproarious media laughter.)  “He’s going to do his due diligence. He’s going to do
his work, anyway. He’s going to have a huge opinion on our players, one
way or the other.”

Yes, the 3 time Super Bowl winning coach has nothing better to do between August and November than watch an HBO show about a soon to be 6-10 team.

  2. 123456 says: Mar 26, 2010 10:27 AM

Bellicheat does not need to watch an edited show. He’ll have his own guy in the bushes with a camera.

  3. aec4 says: Mar 26, 2010 10:28 AM

This can work both ways… How do you know what is on the show is the actual stuff and isn’t a smoke screen?
All that Belicheck has to watch is how Edelman and Moss are both going to be shut down by our lockdown corners, giving Brady noone to throw to especially since Welker is out.

  4. BuckFigBen says: Mar 26, 2010 10:30 AM

I think once the Jets fan base stop worrying about Belichick they can be taken seriously. Until then they are just a circus starring the incredible melting man.

Bellichek can watch the end of his AFC east dominance before his very own eyes, as power shift takes place in 2010 to the Jets. No worries Bill, dolphins and woodchucks still suck you will have the wildcard.

  10. Politely Stoned says: Mar 26, 2010 10:41 AM

I don’t think Bill needs to watch HBO to lead New England to their 8th division title in the last 10 years. The Patriots own the AFC East and will continue to do so.

  11. ampats says: Mar 26, 2010 10:44 AM

Yes, BB will be eating his popcorn watching Hard Knocks. What a stupid statement.
We all know how hard knocks gets all the intimate details of a team’s game planning.
Actually maybe we all get to see Vernon Gholston making a tackle since he hasn’t done it since he has been in the league?
Or they could go on a MickeyD’s run with Ryan.
Word of advise to HBO, don’t let Braylon Edwards hold the camera since it will break when he drops it.

This is so great. Jests think they are cock of the walk only to find out they are only cocks. New England is still the division winners. You are still looking up at us and you always will. BB is a better coach than Ryan and a better GM than Tannebaum. Every year it’s fun to watch them fall.

  17. StickyGreen says: Mar 26, 2010 10:52 AM

This team is so overrated.. There fall back to obscurity will be hilarious this year

  18. It puts the lotion on the skin says: Mar 26, 2010 10:53 AM

I think Rex Ryan has some kind of infatuation with Belichick. He spends the off season worrying about Belichick and the Pats. Last year it was not kissing rings, this year he is worried about BB watching Hard Knocks.
It goes beyond that. Tannanbaum picked that waste of space Gholston because he thought Belichick wanted to draft him….. When the NY Jets, their front office, their coaches, their players, and their fans, stp worrying about the Pats, they will become a legit contender, until then, they will continue to be the Jetriots. they have been pilfering players and coaches for almost 15 years, and the result of that: Patriots 3 rings, Jetriots 0 rings…….

Wow, Jets fans are pretty pathetic. In the beginning of last year the jets won some games and all these jets fans came out of no where. They beat the pats and they got really annoying like they did something great. Of course they disapeared when they started losing. They got lucky playing 2 teams who didnt care about thier last games and backed into the playoffs.
Did the pathetic jets fans come back with some humility? No. They were acting like champions again.
Why do they care about the pats so much? There are a few teams that I absolutely despise but they have won recent superbowls. I will never think my team is better then them until they win a superbowl.

  23. jersey73 says: Mar 26, 2010 11:01 AM

  24. bbking says: Mar 26, 2010 11:04 AM

See beating the Patriots is all the Jets will ever care about, the lucky run last year against the sorry ass teams they faced doesn’t mean a thing.
they beat the pats for the division and they’ll all be celebrating in the streets. 41 years and counting.

  25. Devlnri says: Mar 26, 2010 11:07 AM

Who worries about Bellecheat. But the bandwagon pat fans are fun to listen to. A soon to be 6-10 team, that is either comedy material or an example just how myopic they are.
But as it was mentioned, Bill doesnt need to watch a show, hes got camera’s everywhere..

  26. DoctorK says: Mar 26, 2010 11:07 AM

How do even begin to get your head around this story. Coaches who are sickening. Arrogant players. The NFL’s ugliest fans (What is it about the NY-Boston corridor? Toxic waste?)
If there is some way that both teams can lose, the great majority of NFL fans will be happy.

I hate the Jets but I love Rex Ryan, I don’t get why people hate him so much.
The following are reasons why he is awesome:
    1. He is fat (The funniest people and animals are always fat)
    2. He is loud
    3. He pisses everyone off
    4. He is bold
    5. He will tell you what he thinks.
    6. He is not PC (I hate overly PC people)
    7. He is a damn good coach (That Jets offense was not talented enough to get that far)
    8. He is fat

  36. dertman says: Mar 26, 2010 11:28 AM

ampats – those were two good ones regarding Vernon and Braylon and I am a Jets fan.
As far as the Pats, they are still the AFC East champs and will be so until we prove otherwise. The Jets have a very good defense and a strong running game. The biggest question this year will be whether Sanchez takes it to the next level or not.
As for Ryan, I think he has some things to learn, but his guys seem to love him and while he talks the talk, he did back up his words with his actions.
    Should be a fun year.

what a complete joke – Ryan is SUCH a fat D-Bag, love how the NY press thinks the Jets are going to win the division and automatically be in the SB. Complete joke – there 2nd year RB will get hurt, LT sucks and the best QB in the world will have to throw and have about 30 picks……and that best defense in the league. – what a complete joke. Cant wait to see Ginn blow by Revis again and hear what the press says about him then……most overated team in the NFL.

Wow! You were making so much sense, and then you had to go and start talking about how the Raiders “should have at least 3 rings in the last 10 years”. Don’t you need a couple of things called “talent” and “coaching” to do that?
I mean, unless you are the Bill Belicheat-led Patsies, and the NFL Commissioner’s office runs interference for you while you steal Lombardi trophies. Then you need neither talent nor coaching.

I know that you dumped your Top Special teamer,Your number one RB and the cover safety who allowed Revis to bump at the line cause he knew he had coverage over the top! You brought in A freaking Deadbeat Dad to play LCB. So where is the significant change that makes any of you think that your team will be better than a 6-10 team this year? I never hear the Eagles fans whine, or the Panthers fans whine, and those teams lost the SB to the Pats. Its always the Steelers fans…..
I read a comment from a Steelers fan a while back, mentioning how the taping that the Pats did, allowed them to beat the Steelers in the second half, after getting dominated in the first half. So I looked it up, and the Pats had the lead at halftime in both of those playoff games, and the Steelers outscored NE in the 2nd half, both times….. A few years ago the Pats caught a Jets employee with a telescope outside the practice facility.
The Pats chose to throw the guy out rather than run a snitch to the NFL.
And for all of you who think the Pats are done, think again. Just because the Jets won the March superbowl with some free agent signings, does not mean they will go anywhere in the playoffs unless someone lays down for them. They are still the Jets, no matter how loud the HC is.
LT is a washed up crybaby, Cromartie is made of glass. Your QB sucks. Didn’t he have like 30 turnovers on his own last year?
Pats are still division champions, so deal with it until they win the division again. Brady will be back to his old self again, BB is taking over the defense, and there will be receivers this season besides Moss and Edleman.

They will go 5-10 this year. and for anybody to bring up sanchez throwing picks look what he did when it counted. and for anybody who wants to know when it counts, it counts in the playoffs, where most of your teams have not seen in many years.

It says it all that the Jets had Mark Sanchez at QB and made the AFC Championship, wheras the Pats had supposedly the Greatest QB of all time (Who was, to be fair, coming off a season in which he had major surgery) and lost in the divisional round.
The Bottom Line: Belichick doesn’t have it anymore, who’s the best player he’s drafted over the last few years, Brandon Meriweather? Stephen Gostkowski? Julian Edelman? The 18-1 team was the most talented team that the genius Belichick had ever assembled (and kudos to him for that) but they still couldn’t win the SB? He’ll go down as one of the greatest coaches of all time (and I couldn’t care less about the spygate thing) but his time is over.

I find it somewhat annoying that message boards devolve into stupid snipes from 12 year olds. A few points: 1) who cares how the Jets “backed” into the playoffs, they went on two win two playoff games on the road to prove they belonged there. 2) Ralphie – once again I tip my hat at the humor (even as a Jet diehard). This just proves, if you are going to pick on someone at least take the time to be funny about it. 3) How do you hate a rookie coach who is a success (so far) and tells it like it is? Who would you rather hang out with Rex or Bill? Lighten up, he is refreshing in sports. There are too many coaches that worry about what they say.

FootballFanatik says along with his immature insults that he didn’t bother to read any further of the post
YET he writes the entire post verbatim.

jets have a good team but the fans are getting a little too carried away. what makes a team become a team of the future is how consistent they are over the course of a few seasons not just one not saying the jets are not the team of the future but before you attack a team like the patriots you need to take their crown as division champs in the afc east. now i dont understand why on every blog i am looking on i am seeing a lot of jet fans hating the Giants can a real jet fan please tell why you jets fans cant stand the Giants?

Dude….read the Giants fans posts and you’ll understand.
For the most part Jets fans have been civil in light of turds like Big Blew calling Jets fans classless 37x a day.
    But play the martyr…..

Can anyone please tell me what is so scary about the Jets? Their offense will be one dimensional. Their third corner will still be exploited. And their safeties…. enough said.

Here are a couple of factors that play into my mind as to why the Jets are no better than the Patriots and why they will never amount to the Patriots standard during the BB era.
-Playoff Game Loss to the January 2, 1994 Houston Oilers 24, New York Jets 0 ( I just put this in there to show that every team gets blown out in the playoffs at some point – but hey Jets fans you guys got skunked )
-Since 1999 BB took over as Pats head coach. The jets have had 5 coaches at the helm: Parcells,Groh, Edwards, Mangini and Ryan (just another tid bit NY win percentage .518 while NE has a phenomenal .700 the only team with a better win percentage since 1999 is Indy with .711)
-Since BB Pats have made the playoffs 6 of the last ten years. The Jets have made it 4.
-AFC East was formed in 1960 Boston/New England Patriots have won 12 Championship titles while Jets have 4.
-NFL Championships: Pats 3, Jets 1
-Since BB has been behind the reigns there has been 37 Patriots players Pro Bowl appearances. While the Jets Organization has produced 29 player Pro Bowl appearances.
I mean hey support your favortie team but you do not talk trash about things like caying the Jets are all of a sudden going to be a better team and organization than the rival Patriots. Once the Jets can touch the stats above… I will say the Jets are a competative team against the obviously dominant Patriots.

What do any of those stats have to do with the current state of each team. I don’t think anyone is questioning which team has a better history. We are talking about right now.

my point is a lot of jets fans are bashing the team when they had one better playoff season. i am not saying the jets are not getting better… they have many positive things going for them… but i believe a teams organization can not solely be based on one playoff season. in my honest opinion i am excited that the AFC east has become more competative… it makes for better entertainment….. an analogy would be watching a fight with paqiou (the boxer whatever the proper spelling is) and him losing…. definately does not mean his dominiance is over…. no person or organization is perfect…. plus i am from boston and i know it is a mutual competative nature from both NY and NE fans to get on eachother… stats just may keep the true haters from talking non factual stuff… i mean what facts can be said currently other than a better playoff for new york last year that would make some type of basis for saying new york is a better team? maybe on the verge of being more competative with new england but that is it…. dominance is displayed by history and unfortunately new england has the history to back them up while new york just has one year of deeper playoff play.
