Bears offensive lineman Lance Louis pled guilty Friday to misdemeanor battery, nearly a year and a half after an incident involving his then-teammate at San Diego State, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The outcome sounded like a relief for Louis’ lawyer. The second-year player avoided more serious charges of felony assault.
The incident stemmed from a fight Louis had with former Aztec teammate Nick Sandford. Louis was accusing of striking and kicking Sanford, causing a concussion, a ruptured eardrum, and facial injuries.
Louis was sentenced to 40 hours of community service, anger management classes, informal probation and a $565 fine.
