Don't expect McNabb progress this weekend

The rate of Donovan McNabb news should slow down for a few days. We promise.

That’s because Eagles leadership is heading out on vacation this weekend.  Andy Reid is in Utah and team president Joe Banner is headed to Florida.

The pace of rumors was set to ease up anyway.  We’ve still got nearly a month to go before the draft, and there is little reason to think anything will happen until we get closer to April 22.

    Unfortunately, that doesn’t equate to:

Can’t wait for the April 1st headline…Mcnabb signed to a 14 yr deal in Philly. Gotcha!

Maybe they should buy cell phones.

Why would someone go to Utah on vacation? It’s a beautiful part of the country, but this time of year I’d think Aruba would be the ticket.

This trade will go down April 5th. That is Phillies opening day. Anyone who lives in the Philly area knows how much the Eagles hate sharing the spot light. Does not matter if it is April or November. Joe Banner will try to steal the headlines.

…And Florio is camped outside the NovaCare Complex( a training facility that doesn’t collapse) in Philadelphia with his cell phone cam!

  14. SmackDaPack says: Mar 27, 2010 9:48 AM

How dare the Eagles not work through the weekend, in order to get a deal done. Didn’t they see that #5 wants this done ASAP, let’s cue the national pundits to say how awful Philly is you know snowballs at Santa 20 years ago and all. Meanwhile Donovan cries at home eating his own Ben and Jerry’s “tears of a clown” flavor.

Hartford Colonials are in Deep Negotiations with Andy Reed for Trading McNabb to Hartford.
Andy is standing firm on getting his Kids pardoned in lue of sending McNabb.

    Because Reid is Mormon genius.

He’s as good as gone even if you are to blind to see it. Kolb will be a FA in a year. Philly has to find out if he’s the long term answer. You keep MCnabb and Kolb walks after this year.

  18. dogma1 says: Mar 27, 2010 10:07 AM

The longer they wait the more his value will drop.
Raiders will end up moving forward with Gradkowski and draft someone like Tony Pike in the 3rd to develop.
Bills will end up drafting Tim Tebow in the 2nd.
Vikings, Favre is coming back, we all know it.
Cards, Matt Leinart has what it takes to be a great QB and he has matured over the years, he’s ready.
    Eagles are screwing themselves

  19. Furiousxgeorge says: Mar 27, 2010 10:10 AM

Reid is a Mormon. They like Utah.

  20. Bigbluefan says: Mar 27, 2010 10:20 AM

Why do you have to be in Philly to make the deal
I know in West Vagina you do not have wireless and blackberrys well you may have blackberrys growing out in the yard.
The trade will happen you can not have Mcnabb back in Philly the damage is done weather real or not McScabb knows he is history.
Kind of like telling an employee he is gone in two weeks how hard is he going to work for those weeks?
Andy went to Utah because he ate everything in PA giving them time to restock at Pats and Phils
He heard there was a chesse steak place in Provo so he is checking it out.

The team does enough of that on their own.

  22. VaBthang4 says: Mar 27, 2010 10:54 AM

LOL eagles fans r some of the dumbest…McNabb (not the eagles) calls the shot regarding any trade. NO TEAM WILL TRADE FOR HIM UNLESS HE AGREES TO AN EXTENSION. He is not going to agree to that for any team unless it is one that HE WANTS TO PLAY FOR. So cancel out 30 teams from the whole story. Only Chicago & Minnesota remain. Unless one of those teams is in the headline, this is a MEDIA OVERHYPED NON-STORY.
    -grin-
    Dummies.

  23. doubldipp says: Mar 27, 2010 10:57 AM

There is no deal to be done!! no team will trade for Mcnabb for 1yr. unless he signs an extension other teams will not give up anything for a QB for 1 yr.. I’m shore Mcnabb’s agent told him don’t sign nothing and play your best football this yr and next yr your a free agent.

  24. doubldipp says: Mar 27, 2010 11:11 AM

don’t be surprised if Kolb gets traded!!! Why? because Reid has a history of making back ups look good.

    “eagles fans r the dumbest”—-really????
At times it really seems like everyone makes up there own reasons as to why some Eagles fans want to trade McNabb to make it easy to either villanize them or make it easy to make their stance seem juvenile.
I can only speak for me, but I know alot of my friends that have the same opinion: we KNOW McNabb has been great here, and the best Eagles QB ever—-we dont mislike McNabb as a player or person—-and as alot fo people try to make it sound: ITS NOT personal, its not that we have always hated mcnabb and its not that we dont respect him.
Its also CLEARLY not that we dont acknowledge that losses and wins come as a team and no one player can be blamed for the outcome of game, unless its in very extreme circumstances. I do not blame McNabb for the 5 NFC losses, I blame the team! I dont blame McNabb for losing the SB, I blame the team. To say McNabb didnt have his best games sometimes in the playoffs is accurate, to say the loss is all on him is ridiculous and I dont think any knowledgable football fan would ever suggest this. So to me, Stephen A and some of the posters on here are kind of insulting to my football knowledge
I know people wish that we did hate mcnabb, and blame him for all the losses because that makes it easy to further berate the Eagles faithful publicly and makes is extremely easy to make your anti-trade-mcnabb points.
No, for me it comes down to it being overly clear now that the Eagles are not going to re-sign McNabb, so at the very most we can only logically expect to have him for one more season. After that he will then hit free agency, we then would get nothing in return. If the Eagles FO showed faith in McNabb—-or if he still had 2-3 years on his deal this would be a completely different situation, but the truth is trade or not the end for mcnabb in Philly is a year away at most. Now, with that in mind you have to weigh what is more valuable: McNabb for one season with this current roster and nothing in return OR going with Kolb one year prior then we would anyway and getting compensation for McNabb while we can. So then, it comes down to what the offers are for McNabb—-if the trade proposal out-weighs your perceived value of Mcnabb for one year then its illogical not to make the move when looking at football as a business and needing to make prudent business moves.
n the end: I dont want to trade McNabb for just anything, I dont want to trade McNabb just to trade him, I dont want to trade McNabb because I blame him for not winning a SB and I certainly dont want to trade McNabb because I have never liked him personally and boo’d my TV and punched a hole in the wall when he was drafted—as ESPN would have you envision every eagles fan alive. Now there certainly are those uninformed or very opinionated fans that hate mcnabb or blame him soley for the loss—but I am insulted when people, publicly on TV or even on here, lump the logical pro-mcnabb trade guys in with the completely uninformed mcnabb haters. We EXIST, we are here! Not every Eagles fan that wants to trade McNabb is some ingrate, drunken fool

Yes, please let McNabb go. Give him up for a third, maybe second round choice. Go ahead and guarantee yourselves a losing season.

We(Pack fans) know exactly what you mean! Prepare fore years–post McNabb–of people saying you ran him out of town! You just have to do what is best for the team and its future.

  31. wolfgang1983 says: Mar 27, 2010 4:53 PM

^^^yea, the Packer’s fans got it from the media too when Favre left, but overall ESPN will usually suck up to everything Packers—which is fine
Im just sick of the constant perpetuation by ESPN, NFLN, PFT and mutliple other national media sources of the Eagles fans as a group of completely ill-informed, pitchfork weilding drunkards with a personal vendetta againts McNabb and no grasp on reality. I love it when these national pundits or “experts”say how fooliwsh the Eagles fans are that would be willing to trade McNabb—but themselves dont even look at the situation logically or actually put some thought into it. No, its always that Philly fans are spoiled and uninformed and they don’t know how good they have it! ITS NONSENSE
I can argue just as intelligently and eloquently as any of these quote unquote experts- who spew regurjitated bullshit and all suck off the same nipple thats feeding all of them. There is logic behind trading McNabb which I explained above—but no national media wants to even acknowledge that a Eagles fan could have the capacity to use their brain
I wish….I WISH, I could get on TV with that know-it-all blowhard Skip Bayless, or open up Bucky Brook’s eyes to reality on NFLN. Sick of it, and done listening to it.

Reid is in Utah explaining to the church why he cut Kevin Curtis. The tithe on that salary was supposed to pay for the new fence at Juniper Creek.
