I’ll give you MeAngelo. However, this was a multiple time Pro Bowl DB (corners are crucial to the Raiders’ defensive scheme) who was only 25 years old at the time. Who knew he was an overhyped bum who couldn’t hang in the Raiders’ bump and run man scheme?
Moss was an elite player. One of the 2 greatest WRs of all time in many people’s estimations. Harris was an average LB who’s no longer in the league. A 7th-round pick is of little value. So the 1st rounder was the real chip. The problem with Moss was he quit as soon as the going got tough. That’s his style. There were flashes of it in NE this year. Still a great player, but ONLY when he’s being fed the ball on a winning team. It was tough to foresee that trait before the trade. A first-round pick (one that was used on Troy Williamson) was the only valuable chip dealt. Basically, we traded Troy Williamson, Napoleon Harris and a 7th round pick for Randy Moss. Is that really overpaying?
And I still like the Seymour trade. If it was the other way around and we had traded a Pro Bowl d-lineman to the Patriots for a 1st-round pick two years away everyone would’ve been going crazy about how the Patriots stole another great player. All-in-all, it was a fair deal. And don’t think the Pats weren’t regretting it after how much their defense struggled last season (so bad d-coordinator got fired). Not to mention Seymour isn’t a speed-rushing sacks guy. He’s a bull-rush the OT and collapse the pocket into the QB guy. That was a big factor in the Raiders having more sacks in ’09 than the Colts, Saints, Patriots, Chargers, Ravens and about 20 other teams despite not having an elite pass rusher and being one of the least frequently blitzing teams in the league.
Additionally, how about that trade of Derrick Burgess to the Pats for 3rd and 5th round picks. The 3rd we turned around and dealt for Kamerion Wimbley a few weeks ago. Basically dealing an aging, injury-prone DE for a 25-year-old former first round DE that alot of teams were after and landing a 5th round pick on top of that. How’s that for overpaying?

As to trades that the Raiders overpaid on; How about DeAngelo Hall. Gave up a 2nd and a 5th and then gave him $8 million in cash for 8 games. Think you overpaid? How about Randy Moss. Gave up a former 1st round LB, a 7th round pick and the 7th overall pick in the draft for a guy that just a couple of years later you turned around and traded for a late 4th rounder. Think you overpaid?
As to Richard Seymour, let’s see where the 2011 selection is first. Right now, it looks like alot to give up for 4 sacks.
Regarding Al’s interest in Rosenfels, well, when you’ve signed J P Losman out of the UFL, you’ve pretty much announced to the world that you’re desperate for a QB, any QB, who might have a pulse.

TRADE SAGE NOW! The Raiders might give up a high draft pick, 2nd or 3rd rounder, to get him. Nothing that I saw from Sage in last years pre-season led me to believe that he’s anything more than a back up in the NFL. There is a reason the man was backing up T Jack last year. I say trade him and draft a QB with the pick you get for him, McCoy, LeFevour, or Tebow could be options with a high 2nd or third round pick. SKOL

I say trade back in first round get a second and first. Than use the first second for Donavan McNabb. Than first round pick on an OT, and second on a guy like Brian Price from UCLA. With our third look towards a center or right guard if both are not quality pick a corner to give depth

What trades have the Raiders overpaid on? Seymour is an elite d-lineman who filled a major need they gave up a 1st round pick two years out which is the equivalent of a 2nd round pick in an in-year draft. The Raiders will have had Seymour for 2 full seasons before the Patriots get a rookie who may or may not contribute within his first couple of seasons and the odds are against him ever being a player of Seymour’s ability.
I may be forgetting something but does anyone have an actual example of the Raiders overpaying on a trade? They often overpay in terms of contracts, but not trades.

I pray this isn’t serious. T-Joke is terrible. The only viable QB we have on our roster at the moment is Sage Rosenfels. Without him, we are a Favre injury away from losing the division to the Packers. Seriously, if they are seriously thinking about getting rid of Rosenfels, they need to have their head’s checked.
If they should be trading anybody to the Raiders, it should be Tavaris Jokeson. Ugh… it’s painful being a Vikings fan.

We really do love Ja Marcus Russell here in Denver.. No way can Oakland let him go.. We are very shaken and upset that Javon Walker was let go.. That one hurt bad.. We would hate to see Ja Marcus leave the team..
The most important thing to us rite now,, is that Al Davis is left in total and complete control of all, and I mean all, personell decisions.
This puts us in our comfort zone..
