Montgomery to visit Vikings

Mike Montgomery is not exactly Brett Favre, but another former Packers player may be headed to Minnesota.

The defensive end will visit the Vikings Monday, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.  Montgomery wasn’t a great fit for Green Bay’s 3-4 scheme last year, finding himself inactive for nearly half of the team’s games.

Montgomery signed a two-year contract after starting eight games for the Packers in 2008, but was released in March.

We need depth in case Ray gets signed by a team with a late first round pick….. Which I wouldn’t mind due to the draft class this year.

  2. irishgary says: Mar 29, 2010 9:07 AM

Pervert will now say what a great addition Montogmery would be.

  3. bluestree says: Mar 29, 2010 9:23 AM

Good guy, hard worker but a journeyman who’ll probably never get in anybody’s rotation.

  4. Pervy Harvin says: Mar 29, 2010 9:31 AM

@ wanna be irishgay- Wrong! Like we need this douche. Montgomery who??

  5. Nevisyakker says: Mar 29, 2010 9:33 AM

Oh, THAT Montgomery….you had me going there for a minute.

  6. Hank says: Mar 29, 2010 9:33 AM

Monty is good rotation and depth in a 4-3 and a good guy to boot. Just a bad fit for the 3-4. Piss on the Vajeens, go sign with a team that has some solid character.

  7. chickenragnar says: Mar 29, 2010 9:37 AM

Never even heard of this guy…..
    roster filler/ training camp body?

  9. irishgary says: Mar 29, 2010 9:52 AM

Pervert. What’s it like having an IQ lower than Favres passer rating?

  10. Pervy Harvin says: Mar 29, 2010 10:13 AM

@ wanna be irishgay- What is it like getting dominated by the Vikings on the field and Viking fans on PFT daily? Must really suck….

  11. IAVikefan says: Mar 29, 2010 10:14 AM

Hank says go sign with team that has solid character… lol! he already blew that by being on the Packers team. You know, the ones who brought us Mark Chumura, and more recently Johnny Jolly…
But yeah, can’t say i ever heard much about this guy, but if he was a defensive line starter in Green Bay, he’d be right around the 4th string/5th string level in Minnesota, which means he may end up on the practice squad, or not make the team at all.

  13. PurpleRaid12 says: Mar 29, 2010 10:24 AM

    @ IrishGay
What passer rating, you mean this past seasons? 107.2, that one? Well if Pervy had an IQ lower than that, which could be 106,105,104,103, etc. (because those are all lower than 107) I’d say that’s pretty good, in fact the average is a 100… Good one though!

  14. Hank says: Mar 29, 2010 10:52 AM

Hey SprayTanCityVajeen, do you need a litany of Vajeen stupidity over the last 30 years? Try a comeback that isn’t older than yourself. The expansion team you root for pulls crap like “poison pills” in contracts and generally fosters a fan base laden with non stop sniveling and excuses. It’s obvious that most of the Vajeen ball slurpers here are still pubers. They consistently buy into the preseason “Superbowl” hype year after year. You chumps blow a nut over every fluff piece that comes down the pipe and continue to talk shit on a regular basis. Don’t worry though, one day your balls will drop, some hair will sprout down there and you’ll realize you should stop flappin’ your gums before the season even starts because there’s a good chance your squad will choke. The whole organization and it’s history is like a auto-erotic asphyxiation tryst gone wrong.

    Longwell : 90, 99, 127, 132 points last 4 years with Vikes.
Sharper: 2 pro bowls in 4 years with Vikes.
Favre: 1 of his best statistical seasons and Highest passer rating ever. Pro bowl season.

Yeah, they sure go to Minnesota to die you idiot.

@ wanna be irishgay- Last test I took was a 129 but really doesn’t matter on PFT. All it takes is a 62 IQ to dominate Packer fans.

  18. Emoney says: Mar 29, 2010 11:12 AM

    Mike Montgomery = Martin Lawrence
Take a look at his picture. They look like twins.
Honestly not the worst player, but will be a solid rotation guy for the Vikings. That’s the only positive thing I can say about him.

  19. HowIronic says: Mar 29, 2010 11:21 AM

Well let’s be real here. There are Packer fans and there are Vikings fans and then there are the people who throw insults around on PFT on behalf of a team, though that seems to be mostly incidental.
I think the average Viking fan…and Packers fan…and NFL fan at large would be horrified by most of what’s on these boards.

Since when are pro bowl appearances stats?
    As for dreams dying:
Considering that GB hasn’t won in 14 years either, doesn’t that kind of deflate your argument just a little?
Your post is about as useless of a post that anyone, outside of Jimmy and Bob, could come up with.
    Nice try, turd.

you’re right lebowski so far, Darren Sharper, Ryan Longwell and Brett Favre performed horribly for Minnesota and they FINALLY ended their careers. Do you even watch football?

  27. IAVikefan says: Mar 29, 2010 12:10 PM

Oh, what a shocker… Hank, a typical Packers fan, is on here talking about ancient history again… and fettishes with young boys. Hank, next time, throw in a sheep reference, and you’ll get your picture hung on the outside of Lamblow feild for being the poster child packer fan.

Yeah, it does. I don’t like that it’s been that long either. It could always be worse though.. We could have no championships in our entire history…

I’m sorry to be the one to do this, especially because my own spelling isn’t great by any means, but you must have used the letter D and E in place of the letters W and N in that last word up there.
Hope it doesnt go over your head.

  33. Cannon says: Mar 29, 2010 1:55 PM

Hell be a good back up. Big guy 6’5 270 with good speed, but what the Vikings need is CORNERS! Spielman and Chilly need to sign some respectable corners with some speed ie. Philip Buchannon or Tye Hill to provide some much needed speed and depth.

where ex packers go to WIN? was that the joke? the face of YOUR franchise has 1 super bowl ring last time i checked and it wasnt with the vikings. darren sharper played in 2 super bowls, 1 with the packers, 1 with the saints, wait who did the saints beat to get to that superbowl? the vikings right? but wait who was the qb of the vikings who blew it for them? favre right? small world.

He’s perfect for the Vikings, first, he’s an ex Packer, second, he’s not good enough for the packers, third, he sucks, therefore the Vikings should sign him up immediately.

Lol not good enough for the Packers?
I think you mean too expensive.
    Sharper 2 x pro bowler
    Favre Pro bowler
Longwell improved scoring every year, almost automatic.
These are all guys that the bone smoker of a GM the pack has, has gotten rid of.
Jimmy, you are oh so predictable.
