On Monday, Eagles fullback Leonard Weaver let his feelings be known regarding the possibility that quarterback Donovan McNabb could be traded.
In a word, Weaver doesn’t like it.
Two other members of the starting offense were more diplomatic about McNabb. “He’s a teammate of mine, and you never want to lose a teammate,” tight end Brent Celek told NBC10 in Philly. “It’s been a lot of fun playing with him. I’d like to keep that going. Right now, they’re just rumors, and until something happens, we’re still teammates.”
Said running back LeSean McCoy, “The thing is we have three awesome [quarterbacks] so whatever happens, happens. But I support the decisions that those guys make.”
It’s impressive that both young men can have such mature attitudes. Hopefully, they’ll be as understanding when their bodies mature and the Eagles move on from them. The underlying message here is that the Eagles will run off anyone once he’s on the wrong side of 30 and they believe there’s a capable replacement in the building.
In this regard, the Eagles aren’t much different than any other NFL team.
