C.J. Spiller will attend draft

col_spiller3_250.jpgSome of you scoffed at our item from Monday regarding the possibility that running back C.J. Spiller might end up being one of the first 10 players taken on the evening of April 22.  Though he may still have to wait, he’ll be doing so under a spotlight.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Spiller has been invited to attend — and will attend — the draft in New York.

The invitation of Spiller could be an indication that one of the quarterbacks who have not yet accepted their pending offers (Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Jimmy Clausen, and Tim Tebow) have said “no.”  The eight known attendees include seven linemen and a safety.

Spiller widely is regarded as the top running back in the draft.  The real question is whether, given the position he plays, he’s good enough to elbow his way into the top ten.

And with the 12th Pick, the Miami Dolphins Select….CJ SPILLER
Oops, forgot that the Tuna would never spend a pick this early on a skilled position. I guess we are stuck with either linebacker or safety, depending whom is on the board.

Old News.. Florio you should listen to SIRIUS radio. Gil Brandt is on it and he is in charge of the invites and had mentioned that he invited him months ago. He also invited CB – Joe Haden live on the radio the other day.

And that is why we will continue to be a mediocre team. To be an elite team, you need elite players. Take a chance and draft a Dez Bryant. Funny thing is they gave Wilford 5 Mil a year and he sucked.

Totally. Draft a player who plays the same position as your two best players in Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. Maybe you should pray being stuck with a safety or linebacker, considering your defense was mediocre at best last season.
Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, C.J Spiller…stop playing Madden.

    John_Claytons_Football_Career, I totally agree.
With the exception of the Panthers, the Dolphins have the best running back situation in football, so… why the hell would we take Spiller? Sure, he may end up being really good, but it makes ZERO sense considering our other needs.
Yea, we need a WR and I would love for Miami to get Bryant, but we have other HUGE needs on defense, so I wouldn’t be disappointed at all if the pick is a guy like Graham or Thomas. Remember, despite the lack of the big play on offense last year, the Dolphins were still able to score, it was our defense that cost us games.

The Fins would consider Spiller because Ricky’s got one more year in him and Ronnie is terribly injury-prone and will be asking for a new contract in a year. They could both be gone after the 2010 season.

there are 4 key positions in football that you need elite players at.
    they are:
    QB
    LT
    someone to rush the passer
    CB
Since Parcells got there he has solved every problem except getting the elite pass rusher. If i were you Dolphins fans I’d shut up.
