First of all… We don’t settle for mediocrity… We’ve actually WON championships…
You didn’t understand my question… I was implying that Kolb will bring nothing more to the plate then McNabb has… Plus he’s young and inexperienced… So unless next year he takes you guys to the playoffs or wins a Superbowl, I’m sure with the loving nature of the Philly fans, Kolb and Reid will be on the chopping block…
I guess that’s the advantage of playing for a bad front office and in a division where you’re the only team to never win a Superbowl…

Hahaha. Well that is what sets Philly fan apart from the rest, we the fans don’t settle for years of mediocrity, unlike Giants fans. Or atleast unlike you.
He has had over a decade to bring his city a ring and has failed to do so, even after being the favorite in 3 of the 5 NFC Championship games. He has had the tools necessary to accomplish it, but failed. Year after disappointing year we have to listen to him complain about not having this, and if he did we would’ve won. He has had more weapons to throw to than 30 other NFL teams and he still can’t get it done. I would love to see how he does on a team like the Raiders. He would be on top of the world of mediocrity.
How many more years of mediocrity do you feel he deserves?

Look McNabb is on the last year of his contract, he is going to turn 34 this year and has played in every game in only one of the past 5 season (’05 9 games; ’06 10 games; ’07 14 games; ’08 16 games and ’09 14 games). In those season inwhich he missed games he also played in games at far less than 100%.
The Eagles either trade him now or never, as for traded before this years draft or waiting and trying to get more value next year . . . well this year there are more underclassmen declared for the draft than ever before . . . because of that this year is considered a very deep draft class . . . the underclassmen are typically juniors who would be seniors next year or older sophemores who would probably come out next year . . . so next years draft is going to be de-valued due to the fact that the best from it have declared for this draft.
Finally if Eli Manning is shocked by this development than he should look internally to his own organization. The Giants cut . . . YES THAT WAS CUT . . . the best QB they ever had in Phil Simms . . . who also won them a Superbowl . . . after he led them to an 11-5 season and a first round playoff win over the Vikings. Hell Simms was so dedicated to the Giants that he opted to retire and become a broadcaster instead of playing for another team . . . which he easily could have after having the following statistical season: played in all 16 regular season games, 61.75% completion percentage, 15 TDs and 9 Ints. So Eli if you want to be shocked take a look at your own organization.

I bet it’s long before Eli is ever out of a Giants uniform… but than again he could win 11 games throw for 4000+ yards… throw 25 touchdowns and only 11 picks… rush in 3 more tds… and take his team to the playoffs and everything would be ALL good right?
Oh wait that’s what McNabb’s stats would have looked like if he had played a full season last year… Talk about setting up a guy to fail…

Only because even a third grader saw the writing on the wall a year ago when McNabb restructured his two year contract for an..um..two year contract and even stated that depending on his performance this year will determine where he will be next year. McNabb Knew that this was the SB or bust year for him.

WTF? Typical douchebag Cowboy fan. Eli was asked his thoughts on the rumors and he responded by showing his opponent praise and respect. Compare that to Crayton’s continuous trash talk about the Giants, Wade’s comments after Dallas got beat by NY in the playoffs that “Dallas was the better team” (where’s your Lombardi, Wade?), Flozell’s cheap shot against Tuck at the half and getting a rule named after him, etc., etc. Let’s not forget the almost endless amount of posing done by Dallas players, even in games they are losing. THAT’S really “not proper”. Showing your opponent respect and offering him praise is merely being polite.
BTW – the rest of Manning’s comments:
“You kind of heard rumors the last couple of years,” Manning said, according to Reuters. “I’m kind of waiting to see if something truly happens.
“Donovan has been a tremendous player for the Eagles, a staple of their organization. He’s a tremendous competitor and a tremendous person.”

Well they could keep him this year and let him walk next year and get a 3rd round comensatory pick for him.
So like I said if they improve enough in the draft that can make them a contender then I say keep him and go for it all 1 more year. But if they dont have a great draft they should trade him afterwards for a 1st round pick in 2011 because teams will be more willing to part with next year picks then this year picks. Because without a great draft the Eagles cant win a superbowl so its better to just let Kolb get 1 year of starting under his belt so they can make a run at it in 2011.

Apparently you missed the Super Bowl where Eli avoided going down and planted the ball on his receiver’s face with the game on the line. Although it’s a what have you done for me lately league, that was one of the best plays I’ve ever seen…
McNabb doesn’t get a lot of respect. As a Cleveland fan, I’d love to have had solid qb play from one guy for an extended period like McNabb has provided. It sucks to not get some Super Bowl wins, but it could be worse…

The Eagles don’t realize just how few truly good QBs there are in this league. McNabb is one of those. I’d say at best half the league has a quality QB that has the potential to take you to the Super Bowl and I’m probably overestimating that. Eli also falls in that category and fortunately the Giants understand that.

The biggest argument I see in defense of DMac is he hasn’t had a quality receiving core since TO left. Do you realize what you’re saying? In order for DMac to succeed, he has to have the best* all purpose RB in the league behind him (Westbrook), and a top 3 WR to his outside (TO). And even when he had that he still fell short. So what is your argument?
Look at his weapons in 2004. Terrell Owens, Todd Pinkston, Greg Lewis, Freddie Mitchell, LJ Smith, Brian Westbrook. Translation: Great, Crap, Crap, Crap, Mediocre, Great.
Look at his weapons in the Post TO Era.

2004 (TO): 11th in First Downs, 3rd in TDs, 10th in Completion Percentage, 30th (32nd being the fewest) in Interceptions, and 4th in QB Passer Rating.
2005(Bizzaro TO): 20th in First Downs, 16th in TDs, 22nd in Completion Percentage, 22nd in INTs, and 16th in QB Passer Rating.
2006(Post TO): 24th, 13th, 23rd, 24th, and 4th.
2007: 15th, 14th, 20th, 28th, and 9th.
2008(Jackson Era): 5th, 8th, 18th, 16th, and 4th.
2008 Post Season: 6 of 12 in Completion Percentage, 5 of 12 in Passer Rating.
2009: 20th, 13th, 20th, 23rd, 12th.
2009 Post Season: 11 of 12 in Completion Percentage, 9 of 12 in Passer Rating.
He ranked up there with only two weapons to throw to in 04, didn’t he? Now that he has a half dozen #1s and #2s to throw to, why aren’t his numbers even in the top 10? If he is so great like everyone claims he is, where are the results? Could his lackluster numbers, since 2004, have anything to do with his transformation from a run first, pass second QB into a pass first, pass second QB? Could it be that he isn’t that kind of prototypical passing quarterback, and after years of injury prone seasons he isn’t as threatening to opposing defenses as his younger, run happy self was? Who knows?
All in all, DMac is an above average quarterback who will always win the But We Were This Close award. Calling him great is an insult to the truly great QBs out there like Brady, PManning, and Favre; and to the legends like Montana, Elway, and Young. I wish him the best wherever he goes, but it’s time for a change… even if that change brings us to Kolb. Palm2Face.

I think most eagle fans are right saying that mcnabb has taken them as far as he can and it’s time to move on without him. Kolb may not give them the best chance at winning a super bowl this year but neither does mcnabb. The eagles are a Young team at key offensive positions so why not let them gel with a young “rookie” qb? They are an 8-8 team with kolb and maybe a 10-6 team with mcnabb. Either way they won’t win a playoff game this coming season. They were 12-4 this year but only one or two of those wins came against teams with a winning record. Either way it’s time to move on.
