PFTV takes a broader look at the Eagles and McNabb

There has been much talk about the Eagles possibly trading Donovan McNabb.

So let’s take a broader look at the question of whether he’s indeed available, what the Eagles want for him, and where he could land.

We’ll do it PFTV style, with the swanky new studio, which despite the new translucent desk continues to conceal whether Brocato or yours truly are wearing pants.

Way to insult your viewers, while, at the same time, showing how much of a talking head you are and how much a journalist or expert you are not. It’s good that you realized the blunder, but didn’t bother to edit it out or try a second take. Shows how you wanted to put it out there to fan the flames of hatred for a proud (if crass) city.

    paper football florio? hahaha
but seriously, why would we want to trade a guy who has gotten to five nfc championships so we can start a guy who has started all of two games, and got his only win against kc? donovan is a proven winner. kolb is not. don’t tell me he won at houston, he was a system qb there. ill be the first to eat my words if im wrong, but donovan gives us a better chance to win right now.

Thanks for the defense and understanding of Eagles fans, Mike. One of the few nationally to do it.

To McNabb’s credit, he looks as though he wants no part of the two losers with him in the picture above.

    nice cover, vox florio.

  9. dogma1 says: Apr 1, 2010 12:55 PM

Raiders are the only team in the league that really wants McNabb at this point, the guy will be a free agent next year, no one will trade for him but AL DAVIS and AL DAVIS knows this…
Eagles are in trouble in terms of getting good value for McNabb at this point.

    Bring back Brett Favre!!!

  11. PhillyRocks says: Apr 1, 2010 1:06 PM

You know, Mike, you are dead wrong about Philly fans and their wishes for Donovan. We love McNabb but we know that his time is up here in Philly. He gave us 11 good years, a couple of them great years, but it’s time to move on, for him and for us. No matter where he goes, we’ll wish him well and we’ll root for him to win a championship if he ever finds himself in that position. (Unless of course he has to go through the Eagles to do so.)
So please don’t sit at your nice new desk, in front of a camera and just DECLARE that Philly fans want to see McNabb leave town but not have any success elsewhere. That’s simply not true, no matter how loudly you say it’s so.
I wouldn’t have had to write this if you had simply said “some Eagles fans…”

this is what us bad eagle fans think of you

  14. doubldipp says: Apr 1, 2010 1:21 PM

this guy said Mcnabb is on the trading block based on him not having a contract extention, but kolb doesn’t have one either.

Florio — don’t let that fancy new desk keep you from pounding on it during your segments, causing your mic to flare.

  16. Opie says: Apr 1, 2010 1:51 PM

“Kick save by Florio!” on the Eagles’ fans comment.
So, here’s my question: since you have so many sources saying what the Eagles want, where they will trade him, etc. Why don’t you have ANY sources that can crack the information code to identify the teams that don’t want to be identified?!?
You’ve got ‘highly placed’ source w/in the Eagles’ organization, yet this janitor can’t give you one team outside of the Raiders, Rams, and Bills?
    Very suspect.
Eagles trade one of their backups, extend DNabb for 3 years w/option for year 4 and move on.
    OR
Is Baltimore now interested in trading Anquan Boldin for DNabb since AZ wouldn’t pull the trigger last year?!?

  17. McNabb fan says: Apr 1, 2010 2:00 PM

I hope the eagles get nothing and have to just cut him because he won’t come back after all this crap. How can they claim he has such high value when they trash the guy every year and devalue him every offseason? The eagles have been caught with their pants down and now they are literally in a compromising position, and not the power position. They don’t really have the option to bring him back. There is too much blood in the water now.I hope he goes to the Raiders and leads them to a 10-6 or 11-5 record while the eagles crash and burn. That would solidify his Hall of Fame credentials alone, just making it to the post season with the Raiders.
McNABB/Eagles fan in philadelphia with every game recorded for the ENTIRE LAST DECADE!!!

  20. Mooch says: Apr 1, 2010 2:37 PM

McNabb Fan – I would love to see that happen.
Quick question…do you consider Drew Bledsoe a HOF’er?
Opie, if the Birds wanted to extend McNabb then why didn’t they do it before they were painted into a corner? Why isn’t it done now? They do what they want, according to a plan – so I can’t imagine they just ‘missed’ on it. The plan is to move McNabb, and has been for some time. Sadly, the lack of an extension makes him tough to trade, that much they did screw up on.

  21. Chapnasty2 says: Apr 1, 2010 3:09 PM

Why even watch this? We get 5 posts a day giving us a look at this situation. How much more broad can it get?

  22. Chapnasty2 says: Apr 1, 2010 3:11 PM

    @ cheesteak
You would easily get rid of a guy who has failed 4 out or 5 times sir. Get over it, McNabb has been a constant let down.

  23. BirdsFan4Life says: Apr 1, 2010 4:11 PM

The Birds haven’t given DMac an extension yet because it will significantly decrease the trade value of Kolb. I’m telling you, Kolb will be traded to Cleveland for their 1st & 3rd round picks and then they will release the details on Donnie’s new 3 year contract. They will then draft McNabb’s “real” replacement with one of the 7 picks they will then have in the first 4 rounds…
They don’t have much after that….
    1 (24) Own Pick
    2 (55) Own Pick
    3 (70) Acquired from Seattle
    3 (87) Own Pick
    4 (121) Own Pick
    6 (200) Acquired from Indianapolis
    7 (243) Compensatory Pick
    7 (244) Compensatory Pick
As long as Reid is in charge of football operations for the Eagles, his QB will be here…
All the hype is just for show – they are raising Kolb’s value and it’s working….

  24. Opie says: Apr 1, 2010 4:14 PM

Mooch, none of the qb’s have an extension. The other side to that coin is that whatever team a qb is traded to, they can work out the extension prior to a trade.
It actually may prove to be a benefit as they then can customize the contract to fit their plan.
I respect your opinion, but I don’t think they are in any way in a corner on this. The speculation has been made by people with no working knowledge of the Eagles or no real sources. AR’s words have been twisted to sound entirely different than the way he said it.
Any team trading for any of them gets to work out a deal they are satisfied with, whether that be Kolb or (cough, cough) Vick.
I do agree that they do things according to plan, though, and, unfortunately, we don’t have any people to give us any insight into what that plan may be.

  25. Mooch says: Apr 1, 2010 5:40 PM

Maybe it’s because they seem to have lost control of the process – they never do that. This whole thing is just strange.
