Though most NFL-related April Fool’s Day gags fell flat this year, NFL Network and Rich Eisen pulled out the perfect prank on Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman.

You can almost see the ‘roid rage bubblin’ to a boil..and then they give him the release. I’m thinkin’ if I’m the boom mic guy on set I’m feelin’ pretty nervous….he said ALL people on set are gonna get it and I think Merrimen is just ego driven enuff to see that to fruition.

Great Video – I actually gained some respect for Merriman…he took the joke well and seemed to have a good sense of humor.

Its called taunting. Its a penalty. His is borderline penalty as it is but when someone directs a dance at someone else, it is considered taunting. Also team celebrations are prohibited.

I was confused by that logic, too, but I he later tried to clarify by saying that the Patriots did it “as a team”. So, the individual dances are supposed to be ok, but the group ones aren’t. Meh. Maybe during the game, but the Pats example happened afterwards.
