Rob Sims to sign Seahawks' tender in advance of trade

In an indication that he’s likely to be traded soon, restricted free agent guard Rob Sims is reportedly set to sign his tender with the Seattle Seahawks.

ESPN is reporting that Sims plans to sign his one-year, $1.101 million restricted free-agent tender today and that he’s doing so in hopes of speeding up a trade.

The Bears and Lions have both been publicly identified as possible trading partners, and ESPN also reported that the Eagles might be interested.

Sims started 14 games in Seattle last year, but the new coaching staff has told him he’s not in their plans.

Lions or Bears, maybe one of those teams will win 3 games this year.

Go Bears! Need to spend that money you got on cutting Alex Brown for OL and Safety help.

This guy is probably 2nd in PFT headlines to only McNabb recently and i didnt even know who he was. 1 year, $1.1 mill, I guess I shouldnt have known. I think they could have gotten by putting up just this one.

The purge continues. Sims could be a good OL with a good supporting cast. Just didn’t have that in Seattle. Keep piling on the draft picks, Pete.

    Good riddance. He sucks.

  6. birdmancometh says: Apr 1, 2010 4:55 PM

He obviously doesn’t suck. He’s an NFL lineman that started 14 games last year. Why do people always say the first thing out of their mouth instead of actually using their brains?

he was rated the 8th best guard on ProFootballFocus.com…a site dedicated to ranking people on actual games instead of the media and how popular their name is

c’mon detroit………snatch him up for that 4th rd. tender!

Dixon- you’re the one that sucks. I love how fans don’t have a clue on why he’s being traded. Um…it might have something to do with not fitting the new scheme. Try to learn something before opening your mouth. The guy is a “mauler” type that fits in perfectly with a man to man blocking scheme, but not in a zone-blocking one. Make sense ignorant one?

Do you use your brain? Did you see how bad the Seahawks line was last year? Sims didn’t help them any if anything he made them worse.
Considering how many different starting oline combos they had last year he must not be that good. Seattle didn’t have many options so they had to play him for 14 games. Also if he didn’t suck Seattle would put higher than a 4th rounder on him. Just food for thought.

Thank go Al Gore created the Internet for idiots like you, because where else could you post your drivel?
Bears won 7, and had some key injuries on D, plus made some necessary additions on O. Cutler’s gonna have an accomplished O Coordinator. Say what you want Cutler bashers, but I’m sure they’d want him back in Denver instead of Orton or Quinn. BTW, the Bears fans told ya about Orton, but all I heard was, he’s a franchise QB when the season started.

I don’t know how he got ranked “8th Best.” The guy shows up on one play, and on the very next he’s just a human turnstyle. We won’t miss him.

Nah, c’mon Detroit, give us your #2 overall and you can have our #6 and Sims ;)

hopin it’s a trade with the bengals

The only thing that Sims got is his youth. He was a 4th rounder from Ohio St.
This guy is oft-injured and was constantly ran over by DTs or missed blocking assignments which resulted in Hasselbeck or our RB on his back.
When Mora requested more “dirtbags”, Sims stupidly responded to Mora’s claim “I don’t know what he means…”
So honestly, if we get any pick for this guy, the Seahawks won that deal.

    @irishgary,
Really? How unbelievably pathetic is your worthless life that you have nothing better to do than find every article about the Lions on the internet and comment on how much you dislike them?????????? Did the Lions assault your fat toothless mom? Did they steal your dog? Was it the Lions that bullied you in high school? Do you sit in your basement everyday and think about killing yourself? Because you should!
Your mindless grade school insults make everybody who reads it dumber. Do everybody a favor and keep your stupidity to yourself. Go back to the basement and eat the leftover Cheetos you stuck under your sweaty man tits.

RoB Sims is a good lineman and will help whatever team he lands on… once he figures out what a “dirtbag” is.

The reason they put a 4th round tender on him is not because he isnt good but because of GIBBS new scheme he doesnt fit in! You put a 4th on him knowing that teams would consider giving seattle a 4th for him and negotiating from there!

  22. hawksnest says: Apr 2, 2010 7:30 PM

whoever gets him is gonna be pissed after he tears his shoulder in training camp
