Raiders bring back Langston Walker

One of the biggest zone-blocking guards of all time is back in the silver and black.

The Raiders re-signed Langston Walker Friday, who played in seven games last season after getting cut by the Bills at the end of training camp.

The 6’8, 366-pounder has played at tackle for most of his career, but started a few games at guard last year.  Tom Cable’s offensive line may have been the most disappointing part of last year’s Raiders team after a pair of solid seasons.

Gee wiz, I wonder if Langston has anything to do with stat?

Oh thank god, I almost thought it said they brought back “Javon Walker”.

  4. Tdk24 says: Apr 2, 2010 7:01 PM

Sweet, and he can block FG’s and XP’s.

  5. RaiderMight says: Apr 2, 2010 7:05 PM

Do you even watch football much? In 08 he was with the Bills and in 09 only started 2 games at guard when Gallery went down. Just a backup with oakland.

Yeah, those 4-12 seasons are solid.. The entire Bronco orginization gives full approval of those solid seasons and hope they continue..
    Long live Al Davis..
p.s. Al, we would like you to re sign Javon Walker, make a few more personell moves, then take full control of the draft.. Don’t let any of those stupid fans tell you what to do.. You are the best.. Jamarcus Russell, DHB, and Mc Fadden is proof that you know what you are doing..

    No mention of Russell’s weight?
Actually, Walker filled in nicely after being picked up last year.
The O-line played pretty good when Gallery was able to play, they were awful without him. Hopefully he’ll be @ 100% after the back surgery…

I’m not sure, but I’m fairly certain that a guy who was only signed for the last 3 or 4 games wasn’t the root of the problem, genius.

  9. swervinmervin says: Apr 2, 2010 7:14 PM

Walker actually played pretty good in the limited time he saw. He could actually be pretty good depth for their line now that he can play 4 positions on the OL. Someone who has started at 4 positions on the OL in his career is not a bad backup.

the big bronco, Why don’t you just change your name to the big A-hole!!!!!

  12. raiders177 says: Apr 2, 2010 7:47 PM

I like how Broncos fans talk trash even though JaMarcus Freaking Russell beat them twice in the past 2 seasons.

  13. raidersteve413 says: Apr 2, 2010 8:16 PM

yeah broncos fan didnt jamarcus take you right out of playoff contention?
Listen this website hates the raiders just like espn and nfl network. I remember back in 01 and 02 when raiders were kicking ass they still would find ways to talk trash. Mortensen and the espn crew were celebrating when raiders got eliminated by ravens in 2000. Real professional.
RAIDERS WILL SHOCK THE WORLD AND BECOME SUPERBOWL CHAMPS.
P.s florio what happen to your steelers? oh yeah I almost forgot the bruce and the silver and black destroyed them and took them out of the playoff run!
you still mad about that huh

@ Big Bronco – Maurice Clarrett, Alphonso Smith, Jarvis moss (Seahawks Still loving you for that one) not saying the raiders draft well (cuz we dont) but the Broncs are far from perfect. Also we’ve beaten you at home for the past two years, and yes with JaFranchise at the helm which is quite the accomplishment.

No, more like the “The Big Douchebag”.
Pretty much all of his comments are the same, and add nothing to any conversation on this blog. He makes the few decent Broncos fans around here look pretty damn bad.

Oh my, both Madstork & RaiderMight, you guys take the cake on stupidity!
Let me educate you two numbnuts on what Rosenthal was saying and I reiterated. After suckin ass with Langston the offensive line made good strides AFTER Langston left as a big money free agent to Buffalo.
Then the big fat turd was cut by Buffalo. We had players go down last year and signed him again, hence the line went back into the crapper.
Do you guys even understand the game?

What are u losers doing here on a Friday night posting comments on an Internet site? I can see your next 3 hours: 2 hrs. 55 mins playing Xbox then 5 minutes with your your pants around your ankles in front of your computer screen. Oh, never mind….that’s my night. I’ve said too much already. Move along.

    @the big bronco
ROFL. as a long time raider fan you will i will not deny al davis does have the raiders in shambles…..but we did not have a good coach(not a personal fan of the a-hole) but a good coach and fire him bring some bill belichick protege with a cocky attitude and trade a pro bowl qb. so the bronco’s and bronco fan’s have no room to talk crap

Gawd, Undead Al just can’t help himself, going back to the same well over and over and over again.
“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing, blah, blah, blah, ad nauseum.” Apparently, Undead is going by the theory of what’s old is new again as long as he keeps holding onto the past.
Walker is one of those “first guys off the bus” types, like that has any effect whatsoever on whomever. Big and mediocre is still mediocre. Langston represents another of Undead’s pet projects that he just won’t give up on.
This line really fell apart last season because Undead allowed Jake Grove to skip town and become a Dolphin. At least when they still had him, both he and Gallery provided some stability to the interior of that line. So Undead lets Grove leave then gives up a draft pick to the same team for the guy who was to back up Jake. Does Undead get the better end of any off-season deals? Raiderkarma.
Undead needs to watch that episode of Seinfeld, where George Costanza lives life according to the Bizarro George principle. He just needs to zig everytime he feels like zagging. Because if he doesn’t the Raider “mystique” will remain as real as Vandelay Industries.

I’m hoping your team signs mcdaniels for the long term. He certainly made a splash last year. at the worst we should finish at .500 against your sorry ass team.

There are a few of that understand how bad it really is. I will always love Uncle Al, he just held on too long. I blame his son.

Denver Douchebags, maybe Adolph McDaniels can bring your mules to glory again——-Ah No!!
Just remember who your Masters are in Denver.
Every year the Raiders stomp you glue sniffers in your venue.
And always remember the Raiders have three Lombardi’s to your two.
Now please, go watch a Mork and Mindy Marathon….

The “run it to MY side, don’t make me have to pull” Langston Walker? pfffft. I was so relieved when Stuart Schweigert, Courtney “what’s the snap count again” Anderson, & lazy Langston left Oakland. It was like addition by subtraction. Now? He’s baaaaaaackkkkkkkkkkk. Thus, subtraction by addition.

Roenthal wasn’t saying any of the bs you were/are spouting, so maybe you need to work on your reading comprehension skills, jag-off.

  30. Bob Buckowski says: Apr 3, 2010 8:35 AM

My mistake then, Langston is a top tier lineman. We are going to do great with him. If we get McNabb he is going to be in dreamland with the terrific pass protection.
    Ok John Herrera aka maddork!

  31. Ray Guy says: Apr 3, 2010 10:23 AM

You guys have totally missed on this. Langston is replacing Gary Russell on kick off return duty.
Special teams is a priority this year. So we’ve been told.
