Flozell Adams already drawing interest

The Cowboys were right.  Flozell Adams wasn’t worth $7.5 million in 2010.

The long-time starting left tackle shouldn’t struggle to find a job, though.   Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram writes that Adams’ agent has already been contacted by three teams.

Adams figures to remain a starter.  We don’t think his decline as a player has been nearly as rapid as that of Orlando Pace, who the Bears overpaid a year ago. Unlike Pace, Adams is remarkably durable.  He’s started 16 games every season but one since 1999.

We have no idea who the three interested teams are.  Some logical suitors that could use help at left tackle include the Cardinals, Raiders, and Bills.  Let us know if you want The Hotel opening in your town.

Didnt ya think Flo would draw interest ? If you get him,be prepared for a lotta FS’s and inactive’s if he gets that recurring paper cut/hang nail and/or carpet burn he’s so proned to.

    He’s destined for Oakland..
Old, people thinks he’s done, badass/nasty attitude – just the type Al likes :)
As a Raider fan myself – do it if he doesn’t command to much money..

    WHY NOT THE WASHINGTON REDSKINS?

Flozell Adams is a guard, at best or maybe even a RT but he’s NOT a LT and by any standards, he’s declined as badly as Pace. He’s been beaten by a lot of guys and not all of them have been All-Pros and more importantly, he’s resorted to tripping and the hopes that the officials miss it enough that he won’t get a penalty. Any team that puts him at LT would be stupid to not have their FB at the ready to back him up. He’s far better at the running game so if he goes to a team that loves to run, it won’t matter if they play him at LT but they should still have their FB ready on passing downs.

  12. Mike Honcho says: Apr 3, 2010 2:04 PM

Detroit? He would be an instant upgrade at every position on the line. I say sign him, move Backus to LG (where he should be), Flo can start at LT for the next season or two, in the meantime draft another LT this year to develop.

  18. similis says: Apr 3, 2010 2:18 PM

It hasn’t been Ted Thompson’s style, but I could see him in GB in a rotation with Clifton and Tauscher. You know that they aren’t both going to make it every snap the whole year.
This is an important year for GB and you can’t have too many good o-lineman.

  19. prophet of the light says: Apr 3, 2010 2:22 PM

Why would you play Flozell Adams? He sucks. I’m just glad he might play for the Bills. That would be the best thing for the Patriots pass rush.

  20. TheAceofBase! says: Apr 3, 2010 2:29 PM

Any BODY is better than the current crop of linemen in Washington…

  21. chemicalxv says: Apr 3, 2010 2:32 PM

Adams may be “durable” but he’s still nowhere near as good as he used to be, and he either false starts (surprise surprise) or is slow off the ball.
    Oh and he’s a thug.

  22. BigBear123 says: Apr 3, 2010 2:34 PM

Probably good enough to start for the Bears, but don’t think they’d want to spend the money after the Pace ordeal. He is playing better than Pace though.

You and the others need to stop drinking the PFT kool-aid on Flozell. If the plan is to use him on a passing team then he’s the wrong choice. His forte is run blocking and he’s been a terrible pass blocker for years (and so has Colombo). The only reason why the Cowboys didn’t give up 50+ sacks for the past few years is because Romo saves them from looking even worse. Cutler is NOT Romo and you can bet that he’d end up on his butt just as much because of Flozell. Even if he were to take a pay cut to $1, the Cowboys would have let him go because of what a liability he’s become.

  30. Gautam says: Apr 3, 2010 3:09 PM

My Redskins should sign him up. Three worn down running backs with an aging offensive tackle, let’s show the rest of the world that old is gold!

  31. bugslayer says: Apr 3, 2010 3:11 PM

I’m not promoting a push for Flozell for the Bears but he would make a very nice gaurd on the Bears, could also play tackle in a pinch. A mean nasty SOB who would line up next to Kruetz and make whatever tackle on his side better. Would make the Bears much tougher running the ball……hhmmm I may have talked myself into it.

Do you actually know anything about the guy? I mean seriously, that has to be up there for sheer ignorance.
Hey, here’s an idea — actually read the post. If you had you’d know why your comment is so lame. Adams started EVERY freaking game in EVERY FREAKING SEASON excpet one out of FOURTEEN. There aren’t many players with his record for durability. He plays hurt, unlike a lot of other prima donnas.

  36. alexc says: Apr 3, 2010 3:34 PM

Raiders have a very good LT named Mario Henderson. Last year, he shut down top DEs like Mario Williams, Shawne Merriman, and the Steelers collection of blitzing OLBs.
Adams would fit right into the RT or RG spot, but no wannabe Raider fans, your team does not need a new Left Tackle.

You must not have watched too many Raiders games last season. Henderson was far from “very good”. He was a bit of a disappointment last season. I can only hope he lives up to his potential, but right now the Raiders are in need of a LT to add depth to the position. Adams probably isn’t the answer though.

Pretty idiotic comment, especially since it is noted in the article that Adams has started 16 games every year but once since 1999.

Flo is a decent LT — not elite. But then how many elite LT’s are there anyway? He will get a job somewhere (hopefully not in the NFC Beast) and will be more than adequate.
BTW – Tuck will always get used by Flo. He was abused by him before the “trip” and he will after.
