The Jets and Cardinals could unofficially trade kickers.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Neil Rackers is set to fly to New York Monday for a Tuesday visit. Former Jets kicker Jay Feely signed with Arizona Friday.
In New York, Rackers would have to battle Nick Folk for the starting job. He reportedly had a contract offer from the Cardinals, but wasn’t happy with it.
Ohhh thats just great, two terrible kickers get to battle to see whose the better of the worst… fml
If Folk and Rackers are bad then what kicker is good nowadays?
Jets deserve them both!
Don’t worry, Rackers is asking for too much money also. They probably won’t sign him. All this shows is that the Jets aren’t putting all their eggs in Nick Folk’s basket.
They should pick up Matt Stover
Rackers is a “terrible” kicker? On what planet? The guy had a ridiculous year. He missed ONE kick all season! His average was 94%. Yes, he missed 2 kicks in the playoffs, but the first game the Cardinals won anyway and the second game was a like a 40 point blow out. Rackers is WAY better than Feely.
can we still get Pat Leahy he’s got to be better than Nick Folk, how did we let Feely get away? He’s not the best, but he sure could handle kicking outdoors better than what we have, and why our we looking at dome kickers, Folk couldn’t kick indoors last season he lost his mental edge bad pick, Rackers is a good dome kicker but the JETS new stadium is untested and we pick 2 dome kickers. This is what drives me crazy we have a decent off season, then we blow the kicker position out of the water?????
RACKERS=REDSKINS. PLEASE. We can cut one of the 17 old RBs we have on the schedule. What are we doing?!?!? Willie Parker, Larry Johnson and CP? Sounds like we will need a good kicker when we stall at the 30 yard line on 3 and 1.
I will def. rather have Rackers than Folk, I liked Feely though. Remember Mike Nugent?
Neil, here is a little hint: none of the four AFC East teams play in a dome. That means November-January you could be kicking in snow and 20 degree weather. You had a few great seasons in Arizona when 10-12 of your games were in a dome. Your seasons with 8 dome games weren’t anything spectacular. What do you think will happen when you play 2-3 games in a dome all year? Do you really want to show the world what you can do outside?!
Rackers is a good kicker…great leg strength. Extra man on kick offs and a guy new yorkers will love.
He has not handled pressure situations well so far, but I wouldn’t write him off yet.
Jets also bringing in Jeff Wolfert from U. of Missouri on Tuesday. Finished out his college career being the most accurate kicker in NCAA history. Pretty interesting story behind his becoming a kicker.

Rackers sucks under pressure! Espically INDOORS! Remember the game vs the Bears where he shanked a 38 yds as time expired! He is who we thought we was! And choked vs the fudgepackers and now wants to kick outside?
