Brennan lets McNabb wear No. 5 jersey

The NFL Shop can start working overtime to sell the new Donovan McNabb Redskins jerseys, because we now know that his jersey number in Washington will be the same as his jersey number in Philadelphia and at Syracuse.

The Redskins tweeted this morning that McNabb will continue to wear No. 5, which backup quarterback Colt Brennan has agreed to give up.

PFT’s Mike Florio noted Sunday night that it should be a simple arrangement in which Brennan, who wore No. 15 at Hawaii, takes his old college number. And the Redskins say that’s exactly what will happen.

We don’t know if McNabb offered anything to Brennan for his jersey number, but we’re guessing they were able to come to a more amicable agreement than Ifeanyi Ohalete and Clinton Portis.

UPDATE: We’re not sure how this guy already got a McNabb Redskins jersey, but he put the right number on it.

  1. please GOD….let something new happen in the NFL so we don’t get a different Donovan McNabb post every 5 minutes! I’m almost hoping for some Brett Favre retirement news for a little change of pace.

  2. about time you helped me out.. they jerseys guy needed this.. he told me there already had a skinhead with the number 5. i told him colt would let him , cause he would prefer 15, if he is still on the team.

  3. He shouldn’t of been given a jersey with and number on it to begin with.
When has anyone had to say #5 sure is keeping that bench from hurling into space…. Next task #5 has got the treadmill under control…

  4. Brennan won’t need #5 when he is scrubbing toilets at the stadium.
But out of sympathy, McNabb did give him an autographed picture of himself, two $50 gift certificates to TGI Friday’s and a lock of Freddy Mitchell’s afro

  5. LMAO @ “let”.. let’s see, his old number was available now, and, oh yeah, McNabb #5 sells way more jerseys than McNabb #4…and 4 icing they just called Colt in to the office and asked that universal work related question : “Do U like your job???” LMAO!!!!!

  6. To clarify Florio’s comments before anyone asks:
When Clinton Portis joined the Redskins from Denver, Ifeanyi Ohalete had the #26 jersey. Portis agreed to “buy” the number from Ohalete for $40,000. Portis paid half up front, but before Portis was due to pay the second half, Ohalete was cut from the team. Portis then decided he shouldn’t have to pay the remaining $20,000, as Portis would have gotten the number for free after Ohalete was cut. Ohalete sued, and they eventually settled out of court for $18,000, as Ohalete had a signed contract from Portis agreeing to the original $40,000.

Remove your lips from Florio’s ass

  9. How’d that guy get/make that jersey in less than 12 hours?!? I knew those damn print/embroidery shops are thiefs!?!
“Sorry, sir, that is a special one run print, it’s going to take, at least, 2-4 weeks.” Bastard liars!!

  10. Does anyone know a website that I can go to that might have some articles on McNabb? I feel like I’m not in the loop.

  11. …..don’t worry the Ben stuff will be coming soon. Like “Ben farted at the police station”, “Ben’s double chin has turned into a third chin”

  12. Of course Brennan agreed to give it up on the promise that Campbell will be traded and he will keep a job as the #3 qb on the roster………..unless Guam capsizes under the weight of the extra troops going there………….

  13. Well the reason Brennan was able to get his old 15 back is because Todd Collins plans on retiring.

Yeah, well uh…Todd Collins is released and has zero bearing on number 15.

  18. Mcnabb gave colt a happy meal. Colt was just fine with the compensation for his number 5.

  19. I love McNabb, and I’ll miss him every game. That being said, that man is so unbelievably cheap…there is no way he paid anything to Brennan. If he did, he probably offered like $5.
He came into my restaurant multiple times in Philly and we used to pay other people to wait on him. His customary $5 tip (on bills upwards of $200) was not worth his demanding style. Trust me, he didn’t pay much if anything. He is CHEAP.

  20. LOL all of you have some pretty rude things to say about Colt Brennan. Well, hey at least he is in the NFL playing or not. While half of you people are sitting in your moms basement sending these messages. LOL

  21. Great, now I have to try to figure out how to take the “Brennan” name plate off of my Redskins #5 jersey and figure out how to get a McNabb on

  22. I’m with the first poster. I hope Drew Brees gets coked up and hits an old woman in his SUV or Payton Manning comes out of the closet or something, anything to stop with the McNabb posts.

  23. That’s an old Heath Shuler jersey with McNabb’s name placed on the back.
Funny thing is, when you have season tickets to the Redskisn you realize just how many people are still wearing Heath Shuler jerseys after he’s been gone so long.
I mean…who am I to speak…I wear my Sean Taylor jersey to every game. However, I would like to think that’s different.

they made Colt Brennan jerseys??!!!That’s bananas. Hell I don’t think they made Jason Campbell Jerseys

  25. Colt Brennan doesn’t let McNabb do anything. Numbers are assigned by the teams, Brennan has no say what so ever…just ask James Hardy.
