Jamal Williams readies for new side in AFC West rivalry

Donovan McNabb isn’t the only franchise great set to take on his old team twice a year.

New Broncos nose tackle Jamal Williams met with the Denver media for the first time Tuesday, and was careful not to say anything negative about the Chargers.

According to Lindsey Jones of the Denver Post, he wouldn’t even say the team name, calling San Diego “that other team.”

We’ll take this approach over LaDainian Tomlinson’s public gripes.  Williams hasn’t wasted any time trash talking some of his old friends individually, though.

Williams says he texts back and forth with Philip Rivers plenty.

“We’re an hour ahead here, so I wake up and text him
and say, ‘I’m an hour better than you young man. You don’t have that
red jersey on during practice now,'” Williams said.

    Big Mal is nothing but class. I hated to see him go to the Donks but he will always be one of my favorite all-time Chargers along with Rodney Harrison. Much like LT though, he doesn’t have much left in the tank. Has been fighting injuries the past few years.

    Jamal, you are still the man. LT, not so much.

    Damn it Chargers, why would you cut J-WALL?? Shoot, we could of had a sick duo of NT’s if we kept da WALL and draft the Mount. Damn it Chargers.

    As lanjoith said above I agree with (Jamal doesn’t have much left in the tank) but what he does have left will certainly help the Broncos defense on the field, and off the field he’ll be a solid veteran presence in the Broncos locker room.

    Yeah, I knew I liked Jamal. As a Chiefs fan, I despise the Broncos far more than I dislike the Chargers, but JW is a good guy. This, folks, is how to act when changing teams, even if cut.

    that’s awesome, and shows williams is cooler than LT
    rivers and the defense LOVE to smack talk each other cause PR used to be a LB
    rosey, if you took that as williams putting down rivers you’re a GD fool haha
    this is what they ALWAYS did with each other
    williams = cool
    LT = douchebag
    to add though, don’t compare williams to mcnabb just yet, as williams is old, has bad knees and just missed all of 2009
    plus in terms of getting to rivers, he won’t, he’s a non sacking NT, it’s merely his job to make life easier for dumervill and that bust of a first rounder, ayers

    oh and one last thing, old folks we cut don’t come back to hurt us, only young ones like brees who were just hitting their prime and needed miracle surgery to recover (dr andrews words not mine)
    LT williams and the donnie edwards of the world are too old, and will just fade into history

    As long as he can stay healthy he’ll be a force on the D-line there. Sad to see him go.

    Suck it San Diego? The only teams that sucks air is the Donkeys. Who choked away the Division Championship TWICE in the last two years? Oh, that’s right, it was the Denver Burros.

    Wish my Chiefs could’ve gotten Williams. Our defense is like the Red Sea – after Moses parted said.
    We got lucky end of 2009 when we managed escape DEN with the game – now that Jamal is there jabba charles will be lucky to run for 50 yards.

  17. dave says: Apr 6, 2010 6:47 PM

    Dave:
    Do you ever watch Football? Nevermind Las Vegas, but do you watch Football?
    You might have heard from players, analysists, HOF inductees giving the likes of Gates, LT, Phyllis, and Merriman their vote of confidence.
    You very well might just be an old fat troll looking to call people idiots at for any reason. Whatever man, if it makes you feel better about yourself.

    I’m guessing that Jamal thought it was much safer to play FOR the team that went after his ankles rather than play AGAINST them.
    In spite of that, Jamal made a concerted effort to lose weight and get his legs in better shape last year. He came into camp nimble and ready to go. Then he blows out a triceps muscle. Go figure.
