Gerald McCoy could have been a Hurricane

This story may belong more on CFT, but it amused us, so here goes.

Oklahoma product Gerald McCoy told Warren Sapp and Rich Eisen on NFL Network Thursday that he nearly went to college at the University of Miami.

“I told Miami, look, I’m coming down for a visit,” McCoy said.  “If Warren Sapp is there when I get there, I’ll sign right then.”

“Wait, wait, wait,” Sapp jumped in.  “Who was this coach?”

“Larry Coker,” McCoy answered.

“And that’s why [Coker] doesn’t have a job today,” Sapp said.

  1. So he’s saying he would have gone to Miami if he was guaranteed to score some weed as soon as he stepped off the plane?
    Red flag, NFL teams!

  2. “And that’s why [Coker] doesn’t have a job today,” Sapp said.
As a fan of the U this bothers me. Larry Coker literally put the program back 5 years in terms of recruits. Very sad.

  3. Aren’t there NCAA rules that either prohibit or regulate the use of former players in recruiting?

  4. waste of time…we dont sign on this site to see where he could have went to college?

  5. I literally laughed in class and disturbed people. Larry Coker is an IDIOT.
Wasn’t Gerald McCoy a top high school prospect?

  6. Larry Coker ran the U into the ground. He was fortunate to win a National Title with Butch’s recruits and almost won a 2nd in that Ohio state BS call, but once he started bringing his own players in, the talent level really sucked for the most part.
He’s sitting on his couch counting his money right now and laughing at the U.

  7. McCoy doesn’t have a BCS championship ring, they won in 2000, if he was on that team, then he set a record for most years of elgibility.

  8. “McCoy has a BCS Title ring so I bet he doesnt regret it that much.”
He does? They give out rings for finishing 2nd in the BCS Championship? Since Oklahoma hasn’t won the BCS Championship since 2001, and McCoy hasn’t been in school that long.

  9. I think you can run the exact same article for every highly recruited player in the nation… of course you would have to change the names of the players and the colleges … but this isn’t news.

    The rantings of an idiot…

  13. I really don’t like this kid. Very arrogant. Thinks he has it all figured out. If you watched that interview, he tells Sapp that he can get the the QB in 3 steps (which is practically impossible). Sapp asked him to prove it, which of course he failed to do. Than WS goes on to show him the 5 step power swim and own his soon-to-be rookie bitch ass.
Suh seems like a much more humble and sure bet for my money.

I’m sure you mean Coker and not McCoy. I believe Butch Davis is still waiting for Larry to resize that ring and send it to him…

Fool by no stretch of imagination is he arrogant!!!!! And he doesnt have to do it for the money. He plays because he loves the game. It was a freaking joke and if you had a personality you too would understand jokes!!! You should know a person before you speak on their personality. Say what you want about him but understand you wont be drafted anytime soon now will you?!?!?!?!
