Darren Sharper’s market isn’t expected to develop until after the draft, so he had plenty of time to kill this week as a guest analyst at NFL Network.
While he was there, he spoke with the league’s web site, who subsequently threw out some “educated guesses” for possible teams that would be interested.
The Saints come first, then the Eagles, Jets, and Redskins were listed. Sharper is looking for a playoff-caliber team with a scheme that fits his skills. It’s unclear if the list came straight from Sharper, but the reality is that he may not have a lot of options.
If he was viewed as a necessity by any of the teams above, they would have him visit by now, knee surgery or not.
The cowboys love to overpay for safety and they will probably throw in a 1st rounder.
Jets couldn’t pay him anyways.
Final Four Rule and all that, yada yada.
Skins could use him!
I guess he’s not old enough for the Raiders, yet.
Please football gods, let Sharper return to the Saints. With the addition of Brown, the Saints just may repeat as Super Bowl champions.
I say that Sharper, who went to school at William and Mary with Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, plays out his career in Pittsburgh.
that must be some website…
Mayhew raises his hand for both!
Miami needs a safety.
This guy could be the last piece of a puzzle for a team that needs a safety. The way Rod Woodson was for the Raiders in 2002.
Why would he want to go to the Eagles. They have a bunch of front running fans, like Lowell Rikert there. Plus they don’t appreciate greatness.
LMFAO!! Yeah A. Brown is gonna push you over the top.
and why aren’t the Bears interested?
Arena football, maybe he can figure out those angles.
He’s looking for a chance to win and a scheme that fits his talents?? Well, that eliminates the Deadskins.
I’d like to see him in a Bears uniform. Although, I’m not really sure he’s a fit.
Maybe this is the safety Lance Briggs was talking about wanting to bring in to Chicago. Of course, playing Sharper in the T-2 is not a great use of his skills.
swervinmervin: +1
if that did happen, which you never know with the parcells regime, he would be a great veteran leader who could teach the young safeties like culver and earl thomas, or whoever they end up drafting at safety.
raiders…Im callin it…
I’d guess the Saints first. I mean, if he wants to go to a winner that needs him, well the Saints fit both, unless they draft a safety (I doubt Usama Young is jumping into the starting lineup and can’t think of their other options off the top).
Would be nice if the Chargers went after Sharper. They definitely need help at the Safety position, even if it’s for a year or two.
Didn’t Lance Briggs just call out the Bears front office saying that they need a Safety?!?! AND the bears just freed up a bunch cash with the release of Vasher and Brown…
I’m really hoping him or Atogwe lands in Chicago.
knee surgery, old, Skins
look at the average age of Eagles players. Sharper is 34. 35 in Nov. not happening
He won’t be playing for the Saints this year. Give it up Stains fans.
@Floriosadouchebag
Philly fans are just very deep in their passion for their team. They love their players. A few knuckleheads in every fanbase and the ones in Philly get highlighted as the only types in Philly. The media just always needs a story. Philly fans are great!!! So shut up you immature hater…

Push the Saints “over the top”?!?
I guess you were in a coma during that whole “super bowl” thing a couple of months ago.
Eagles just traded McNabb and last year dumped Dawkins… because they’re too old.. what makes you think they’re going after Sharper
Katmanduu = Loser
yeah….can lovie get the man in the door already? we needed him last year (needed alot more than him, but he would’ve helped the cause), when rookie 6th rd pick afalava is starting, you may need some secondary depth.
He struggles in the cover2 and the Bears already have plenty of safeties who struggle in that D why would they want another one
@MagicMan407
you are correct Sir!
not sure why the Eagles are listed. Hello….., they just got rid of all players but one who are over the age of 30. last thing they’re going to do is bring in an old safety.
Browns are VERY thin at Safety. Hopefully his relationship with Holmgren and former teammate Scott Fujita can draw Sharper to Cleveland. Would love to see a very credible Safety like Sharper in town.
Hell be back with God’s army. Book it

Were at the top moron. Just helps us remain there
The Jets would be able to pay him because he can’t get that much money this late in his career and they have two million dollars free from not signing feely. I guess that all depends on what happens with taylor and how much the jets give him.
Everyone knows that without a great supporting staff, Sharper is dead meat. He isnt that quick and needs a team that will force the QB to throw quick
The Saints suit his needs perfectly and he should take less and go back
The Jets wont want the aging vet
Seahawks
He’s about 15 years over the Eagles age limit right now. Pass.
Good player, could’ve used him last year for the “last hurrah”.
But that window has closed.
Players like this seem to go where the money is – this has to be hgis last contract, no?
Why not the Lions?
Before Free Agency I was hoping the Eagles would go out and make a play for Sharper. Now I hope they dont.
Its not that I think hes any less of a play now its just that he doesnt fit our system. Before Sheldon Brown was traded will could have dealt with Sharper’s tendicies to take risks and jump routes instead of just doing his job. The Eagles already have a player like that in Asante. Quinton Mikell and Sheldon could have offset that but now its to risky.
Add in hes over 30 and its not likely hes coming to Philly. I hate that the Eagles got rid of all their over 30 players but now that they’ve done it they might as well follow it through. They need to live or die by it and I dont want them backing down and signing Sharper because IMO it makes them look weak for second guessing themselves.
