Earlier this year, Justin Fagone reminded us all of the troubling allegations regarding former Colts receiver Marvin Harrison.
Fagone thereafter reported that new Philadelphia prosecutor Seth Williams will be taking a “fresh look” at the case.
FOX 29 in Philly reports that, indeed, authorities are still investigating the April 2008 shooting involving a gun owned by Harrison, and the subsequent murder of the shooting victim, who had sued Harrison.
“We are continuing to investigate all angles and all open investigations and leads regarding a shooting that happened in April 2008 between Mr. [Dwight] Dixon and Mr. Harrison, and employees of Mr. Harrison, and others,” Williams told FOX 29. “There was a subsequent homicide of Mr. Dixon. So we are continuing to investigate this, it is an open investigation and we are looking to lots of ballistics evidence we have gathered from the scene. . . . I believe this needs to be ferreted out so we can really understand what happened, and if criminal charges need to be brought, or not.”
Though Williams has stopped short of accusing Harrison for the initial shooting, Williams said that "[w]e are pretty certain that the original shooting was a result of tensions that had been created between Mr. Dixon and Mr. Harrison.”
Former prosecutor Lynne Abraham had declined to pursue charges against Harrison, citing concerns regarding witness credibility as to the identification of Harrison as the shooter. As Fagone explained it in January, however, there’s arguably no need for compelling proof of I.D. from others; Harrison admitted to police that the gun never left his possession on the day of the shooting, and ballistics tests established that the bullets came from Harrison’s gun.
