Trading Holmes was the right thing to do but a fifth? C’mon. Washington or Miami wouldn’t given a third? This was his last year anyway and he is going to get a four game suspension…..no doubt about it.
Wallace is ready to move up (at a paltry salary) and Randle El is the third WR. That works for me. Sweed is a head case.
Tomlin should go? Remember the Super Bowl two years ago ?
5-11 this year? Not a chance. The Steelers win the division. Baltimore showed who they are in the playoffs and if it wasn’t for losing in OT with a third string qb they wouldn’t even had made it.

Quite possibilly the stupidest stretch ever.
This is no “shot across the bow” to Big Ben.
This is a cop out plain in simple. It’s a way for the Rooney’s to say, “Hey, look at us. We are making ‘big’ moves to keep our high level of integrity in tact.”
Santonio Holmes is more expendable than Ben. They are NOT going to make a move with Ben, anyway, so mute point.

NO ONE will give up a 1st 2nd or 3rd for him, He is only under contract for 1 year. Draft picks are under contract ATLEAST 5 years. Holmes has stated many times he wants to be paid, i can almost promise you he will test free agency when the season is finished. No doubt he will most likley have a monster year this year, being traded and for a 5th rounder is a slap in the face for someone like him. He will play with a chip on his shoulder this year. That being said he will most likely be one of the bigger names in free agency so he will get alot of looks and a big contract. The Jets have traded for some good players in the off season, they have alot of people who they will need to sign in the upcoming years. Not sure they will spend the money on him right now….. I have looked at 7 web sites and none are talking of contract extensions.

IF….. the steelers get rid of/or suspend Ben i will gain alot more respect for them. I think it is refrshing to see a team worry more about there image than winning. I am a Ravens fan, but have alot of respect for Mr. Rooney and his family. Although i love my ravens i am not sure they would trade there star wid out ( if we ever have one ) and suspend our 2 time super bowl winning star QB who had a career year just a year prior. This tells me alot about the steelers.
Although i hate them on Sundays i can honestly say i am pulling for the Rooney’s the rest of the week!

It is not a shot a Ben in any way. Holmes is an unrepentent dope head who will be suspended and who will not be resigned at the end of the year. If anything they should have tried to move him right after the season ended and could have possible got more for him.

steelers will find someone to fill the WR spot. plenty of talent out there. don’t panic steelers fans he wasn’t traded within the division. Wallace an excellent WR will take over at the #2 spot. they did the right thing even though he’s a great WR, steelers don’t want garbage lying around they want MEN who want to play. Big Ben here’s your wake up call! stay out of trouble or your next to go! Steelers are very good in making business decisions. the defense was the problem last year not the offense.

If they don’t have Wallace then it’s more difficult but the kid is a real find and a better deep threat than Holmes. If he steps in at flanker and the Stillers get decent No. 3 production out of ARE and maybe Sweed then they’ll be OK.
