By the way, how is 11-5 mediocrity and 12-4 one of the most celebrated seasons in Vikings history?

If following a team that was 11-5, 7-1 in the final 8, with their entire core returning is being a mindless sheep and a Packer fan, you're right. You got me.
===============================
If following a team that gave up 51 points in a WC game and is bragging bout an 11-5 record, when their record against winning teams last year was below.500.....yeah, he's got you there too.
TT's solution to the OL problem?
Resign 2 tackles that cannot play a whole year injury free.
TT's solution to covering for Harris being hurt and possibly out for longer than expected, not to mention, he's 35?
Nothing.
I don't get how you guys just blindly believe that TT knows what he is doing?
His track record is below average!!
But, he IS the packer GM.
We all know that the Packer "way" is the right way.....ufff

I think that monsoon-like rain in Seattle is getting to your head, Beer. Minnesota has won the North twice since realignment and the Bears???dominate??? Of course, you are the kind of guy that thinks a 31 year old back and one speed rusher can turn a chronic 7-9 team into a Super Bowl contender.

Chicken,
The Moss comment is pure hindsight. Green Bay was coming into the 2nd year of the McCarthy tenure coming of an 8-8 record. They were not expecting 13-3. everythinig went right for that team that year. Put yourself in their shoes back then and ask your self is the risk worth the reward? Before that season that is. You say it puts them into the Super Bowl well it might have using hind sight but at the time he wasn't enough to do so. they had no idea every bounce and call was going to go their way that year. How would Moss and his poor work ethic affeected the young guys around him? Negatively without question.
================================
I used "maybe's" just like you did.
" In hindsight" just like you did with Favre.
Please explain where my post about TT is any different than what you said about Favre.
Moss is only a detriment when the team is not winning. Favre and Moss together, I'd love to see that.
A 4th round pick to find out what would happen?
it's idiotic not to do it.
Of course, you would have missed out on the guard that is built like Ken, but plays like Barbie.
Ted isn't always right.
I'll be waiting for your response on how you can use hindsight and maybes and i can't.

Why would you want Thompson to trade anything for someone who wasn't interested in being on the team anyway?
==========================
Yeah the alternative was staying in Oakland.
Sorry bladfish, you are in over your head.

Chicken,
I'll give you the why not. The money wouldn't make sense. If they could lock this guy up for 4 years at 12 mil......6 guaranteed then ok. Other wise they are saving money by drafting and developing a LT that doesn't cost them a precious 2nd rounder. A 2nd rounder LT would cost less
==================================
lol lol lol.....
Develop a LT?!!? Seriously?
He hasn't developed an OL in 5 years worth a crap...cmon man!!
------------------------
A 2nd rounder LT would cost less
=======================
Yup, thats TT in a nutshell right there.
Have the right answer in front of you, but take the cheap way out.
Hold your head steady, Teddy Thas it.....don't back away............

It is a business. to be viable for the long term you have to be calculating.

If and when he fails Whig. Gm's have a different way of looking at things. they look at seasons as coaches look at games. they look 5 years down the road. There is a reason why GM's are rarely around HQ during the season. They are scouting across the country. Looking to the future. they leave the day to day seasonal football to the coaching staff until their is a need for in season replacements due to injury or poor performance based upon recommendations from the coaching staff. This isn't fantasy football like so many of you think it is. Just plug a guy here from Oakland and trade a 2nd round pick for a lineman that may not fit in green Bay therefore his performance may suffer....I mean there are so many intangibles in real life football. In fantasy you literally plug a guy in and it doesnt matter because it doesnt affect his real life or the real lives of those around him. Lose the fantasy football mentality and get beyond the surface people.

————————
A 2nd rounder LT would cost less
=======================
Yup, thats TT in a nutshell right there.
Have the right answer in front of you, but take the cheap way out.
Hold your head steady, Teddy Thas it…..don’t back away…………

An Open Letter To Ted Thompson
By Aaron Nagler on Jul 28, 2008 with 14 Comments
Dear Mr. Thompson,
I realize you don’t read this blog. But on the off chance you happen to be surfing the net late tonight and stumble upon this here post, I’d like to express something to you that you may hear quite a little bit over the next few days.
Let him go.
That’s right. Give him the release he and his bumpkin agent have been trying to get since last season. It’s obvious now that the league is on Brett’s side, what with the Commissioner stepping in and all. And I realize you worry, as is understandable, about the nightmare that will ensue PR-wise if and when Favre signs with the Vikings.
But here’s the thing.
You’ll beat him. And not just on opening night, but again on November 9th. You have the better team, and you know it. The Vikings went and got Jared Allen. How did he do against Chad Clifton last year? Oh that’s right. Cliffy stoned him. The Vikings were picked to go to the Super Bowl by Paul Zimmerman over at SI.com? Let you in on a little secret. Last year he picked the Saints. Yeah, the ones that didn’t make the playoffs.
Let him go Ted. And no, I’m not one of those people who’s been bashing your handling of this thing. Just read the last month or so of this blog. I’m in your corner. Favre had a great year last year – right up until it mattered. And the success he did have? More to do with your coach than with Favre himself. And that’s another thing. Have you watched what Favre looked like when Darrell Bevel was his quarterbacks coach? That’s right. Just slightly better than Kyle Orton. (Who finally got his revenge by outplaying Favre last year, by the way) And who would be calling the plays? Brad Childress. That right there is worth 14 points. For the Packers.
So please Ted, let him go. Yes, the media will say you blinked. Your team will have to deal with a circus for a few weeks. Until opening night when you whoop Favre’s ass.
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL ................

Chicken,
How many sacks were allowed once Clifton and tauscher were healthy? Or at least healthy enough to play??
Blindly follow?
If the other GM new what was right for his team he would shut the hell up on any developing player aqcuisistion. One that would talk would be out of a job.
you are also putting words in my mouth.
Thompson doesnt pursue trades or Free agents? Are you really going to say that? He avoids costly mistakes. Something his priors cannot say.
==================================
Are you going to count on Tausch and Clifton staying healthy all year? I sure wouldn't.
Gaither is better than any other player on that line.
Yes, blindly follow. Because he is the GM of your favorite team, It seems to me, you think he can do no wrong.
GM's should shut up? Where do you think the rumors come from? A lot of them come from the front office. That is besides the point anyway.
The point is: Outside of moving up in the draft.
1 trade in 5 yrs. 5 FA signings in 5 years, spotty drafting, and you think the guy is infallible.
How am I putting words in your mouth?
Im responding to what you have typed to me.
He doesn't pursue them enough!
Outside of Woodson, the FA's are serviceable.
Avoids costly mistakes?
How do you know not going out and getting Moss doesn't put them in the SB,
He's a difference maker. You going to tell me he wouldn't have made a difference?
Look what Favre did for Rice this year.
TT plays it too safe. that is the bottom line.

Yes. Anyone with our pathetic line would be stupid not to. Gaither isn't the greatest, but he's MUCH better than what we have now, and he's better than anyone we would be able to get in the 2nd.
It will never happen though. Remember, this is Ted. He could have had Randy Moss for a 4th and declined, thinking he'd get better value out of Allen Barbre.
He will continue to do things his way, we will continue to be a mediocre team, and the mindless sheep that ignorantly call themselves Packer fans will continue to follow him, while watching Chicago and Minnesota dominate the division. Shameful.

Jarred Gaither could be had for a 2nd round pick right now, he's better than any lineman the Packers have. Why is he not even looking into this? Is he saving that pick for a 4 th fullback or a 6th WR. or better yet, another NT?
Too not even explore trades or FA's is foolish.
---------------------------
It's a pretty big assumption to state he's not exploring trades. But I'm sure he runs all his decisions past you, right chicken?
=================================
Stop thinking with your dipstick Jimi.
He's "made " virtually no trades.

Gaither is loads better than anyone the Pack has on the OL."
-How are any of us qualified to make that statement?
=============================
He wasn't part of a line that gave up over 50 sacks....That's how.
----------------------
"Just because ted doesn't talk, doesn't man no other Gms talk.
-I was referring to the press about his plans.
================================
I was referring to the fact that if he's looking at trades, just because he doesn't talkm doesn't mean the other GM won't.
------------------------------------------
There is a chance to improve the team right there with proven player, and he will not do it."
-How do you know this? And Second part, if they do not pursue them there is a damn good reason. they are the qualified professionals of their field. Not us.
================================
1st part: again, what part of giving up 50+ sacks don't you get?
2nd part: They never pursue them, that's the problem. The "good reason"? TT "builds through the draft".
Just because they are "qualified professionals" doesn't mean you cannot question them!!
You don't think Lions fans questioned Millen?
Gms get fired all the time. Why/ because they were wrong!!!!!!!!
How you blindly follow is beyond me. Lemming off a cliff I guess.
==================================
I see you "superiority complex" is kicking into overdrive again."
-Huh?
----------------------------
Don't play dumb.
The way i root for my teams and my opinions on sports do not jibe with yours.
So you think I'm wrong and you are right and you "may have to call me a surface thinker".
Give me a damn break.

So you think I’m wrong and you are right and you “may have to call me a surface thinker”.
Give me a damn break.

Chicken,
I am not qualified to be judgmental of what Ron Wolf did or didn't do. The results are right there. he was there roughly 9 years and won one title. he has publicly displayed disappointment in that. So maybe that tells you something right there. The point about Thompson not talking was to the press. Meaning he doesn't tip his hand and let anyone outside of the few at the top what he is researching or negotiating. Thankfully. You are insisting that he is doing nothing and if you really believe that he does nothing then I'm going to have to lump you into the Majik/Beer category of surface thinker.
=================================
Your 1st line states" I am not qualified to be judgemental on Ron Wolf".
Your last line states;" You are insisting he is doing nothing then, I'm going to have to lump you in with Majik/Beer in the category of surface thinkers."
So what qualifies you to be judgemental of the other posters on here? You continually say you are a "know nothing" but you incessantly tell others how wrong they are for thinking the way they do. Think about it.
My point about Wolf was not whether you were qualified to judge or whether he was happy with 1 title.
My point WAS, you thought he was the greatest GM ever back then. He used trades, FA and the draft to make his team.
Now, that way of making a team is all wrong, because TT builds through the draft?
Coincidence? I think not. WHoever the Packer GM is, they are infallible, right?
Whichever way the Packers happen to be building their team at any given time is the right way........UFF!
I'm not insisting he is doing nothing. I'm insisting that he is not using all of his resources.
Just because I don't run a football team, doesn't mean I can't question someone who does.
I have every right to my opinion just as much as you do.
I'm not surface thinking. I'm being a realist, he doesn't use his resources to their full potential.

Chicken,
"Gaither is loads better than anyone the Pack has on the OL."
-How are any of us qualified to make that statement?
"Just because ted doesn't talk, doesn't man no other Gms talk.
-I was referring to the press about his plans.
"There is a chance to improve the team right there with proven player, and he will not do it."
-How do you know this? And Second part, if they do not pursue them there is a damn good reason. they are the qualified professionals of their field. Not us.
"I see you "superiority complex" is kicking into overdrive again."
-Huh?

I love to listen to you Packer Pud Pullers dream of good drafting,free agency and trades by Dead Thompson in hopes of making your franchise remotely relevant in the NFC North. Reminds me of the loser convicts on Hard Time on National Geographic Channel. Sitting around drinking toilet tea and dreaming about an El Camino ,a ranch in Wyoming some day and a herd of profitable cattle. You are all dreamers......

Pervy you dumb whigga how is a team that finished one game out of first irrelevant in a 4 team division?

As far as Gaither goes he is tendered at a 1st rd pick. No thank you. And how do you know they arent in talks to trade for him? he is coming off a head injury but Ted never talks which is another reason people hate him. And yes if you want the address I will provide it.
Plus you think Ted is going to trade a SECOND round pick for a guy who hits the open market in a year? No No i don't think so. only way this would happen is to haev a long term agreement in place before the trigger is pulled. Come on man....
==================================
It's been well documented on this site, that they are looking for a 2nd round pick for him. So you are wrong.
Just because ted doesn't talk, doesn't man no other Gms talk.
Umm, yeah, if they traded for him, you would make sure you'd secure him long term.....duh.
Really Super? Really?!?!
I would think that would be self explanatory, but to you, I guess it isn't.
Gaither is loads better than anyone the Pack has on the OL.
WHy wouldn't you want him?
He is some other teams "castaway"?
Which one is he? The skipper? Gilligan?
There is a chance to improve the team right there with proven player, and he will not do it.
You being a Packer fan, I'd be pissed at that.
"Come on man."
I see you "superiority complex" is kicking into overdrive again.
Are you going to change your mind when TT is no longer GM and the next guy uses all avenues to improve the team?
You were all for how Wolf did business, now you are totally on board with TT...........
Next guy does it like Wolf, you' ll be back on that is the best way to do it......
