As the folks in Santa Clara prepare to vote in June on whether public dollars will be contributed to the construction of a new stadium for the 49ers, the Niners’ possible neighbors are trying to block the whole thing.
According to the Associated Press (see how easy it is, guys, to give fair credit to other news organizations?), the owners of Great American amusement park have sued both Santa Clara and the 49ers regarding the proposed stadium. Cedar Fair Entertainment specifically claims that the environmental review process was not adequate.
Per the San Jose Business Journal, the suit claims that the environmental impact report failed to consider potential traffic problems, an issue of genuine concern, given that Great America customers may opt to stay away from the park when the 49ers play.
