Jeff Reed signs his tender

A day after having disorderly conduct and public drunkenness charges dropped against him, Steelers kicker Jeff Reed signed his one-year franchise tender offer.

Reed will enter his ninth year with the Steelers and is coming off a season in which he made 27 of 31 field goal attempts and all 41 extra points.

Reed’s agent told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that both sides hope to get a long-term deal done.

“It’s our goal to try to keep working and see him stay for a long time in Pittsburgh,’' agent Don Henderson said. “They told us that’s what they want and that’s what we want. They’ve been dealing with us and talking to us. Hopefully, we’ll sign a long-term contract and he will remain in Pittsburgh.’'
