Patrick Kerney retiring

In January, PFT reported that Seahawks defensive end Patrick Kerney had a retirement party. Shortly after our report, Kerney disputed it and texted Steve Wyche of NFL.com to say he planned to play in 2010.

We believed that in reality, our report was correct and Kerney was planning to retire, but that he realized that for contractual reasons, he’d be a lot better off financially if the Seahawks would cut him.

We still believe that Kerney is retiring, and now Kerney has confirmed it to Steve Wyche of NFL.com.

Kerney has played the last three seasons with the Seahawks after playing his first eight with the Falcons. He retires with 82.5 career sacks.
