how can you keep talking about a bucketfull of interceptions. the qb was a rookie.
you’re right, we had a superbowl in week 2 but no more. we just won’t care as much about the pats as you fall by the wayside.
the jets have added pieces to a successfull team. the skins tried to create a team. that’s a pretty big difference.

1. Sanchez only threw 20 INT’s in the regular season
2. Henne has had a few years to learn in the NFL while Sanchez was a rookie. Not to mention, Henne got to learn under Pennington who is one of the smartest QB’s in the NFL

The difference here, Florio, is that George, Sanders, and Smith were all towards the end of their careers. Holmes and Cromartie are only in their mid twentys and entering the prime of their careers. Also the Jets will not be relying on LT. Shonn Greene is their feature back not LT. And the Jets are adding these players to a team that just went to the AFC Championship Game. The Redskins were in a much different situation. So either you’re just an idiot or you’ve got something against the Jets. I’m just gonna go ahead and guess you’re an idiot.

LaDainian Tomlinson is one slip on the grass away from blowing out a knee.
Santonio Holmes is a good 2nd receiver. He’s not, nor will he ever be the #1 pass receiving threat.
or (possibly) adding Jason Taylor, please… The fact that NO team has made a move to pick up this polished turd should be all that needs to be said about this. Please Jets, sign Taylor so his ego can crush your defense.

I suppose you can compare these two off seasons as they’re entirely similar. The Washington Redskins signed a 33 year old Deion Sanders, a 37 year old Bruce Smith, and a 33 year old Jeff George, who went from throwing to Cris Carter and Randy Moss to throwing to Irving Fryar and Larry Centers(the fullback).
The New York Jets acquired 26 year old Antonio Cromartie and 26 year old Santonio Holmes and a 30 year old LaDainian Tomlinson to bolster units that were already exceptional to league average on a team that was one half away from the Super Bowl.
So yeah, I can see where there are definite similarities. Good work guys.

wow you’re making less and less sense.. ( i won’t attack you for not being a grammarian). But what i took out of that statement, was that the Raiders WR core is better than the Jets CB core? (we beat the Raiders 38-0) Bart Scott had 92 tackles..i dont even know if the dolphins Linebacking unit had that combined. Calvin Pace had 8 sacks missing 4 games, and i believe Jim Leonhard is a better Safety than anyone you have? correct me if i’m wrong Crowder (dont get me started on Channing)

4-5 wr sets = 4 wr + 1 te, 3 wr – 1 te 1 rb as wr etc
umm as much as i know are besides the raiders wr corp all better than the Jests CB corps, Bart Scott cant cover his shadow, pace can only cover roids and your S is about 5’1

To be honest if the Dolphins OC wouldnt be that dump and the Leagues others OCs would spend less time on scouting the opponents cheerleaders – you can destroy Rexys defensiv scheme pretty easy:
spread em out
4-5 WR sets (or include TEs out wide) throw the ball or run it out of the shotgun

cant wait for Ronnie running over Cromartie, wait thats not gonna happen, i guess Cromartie will jump and catch some air.

My God you’ve figured out the jets Defense in a Profootballtalk message board.. What team are you lending your brilliant mind to buddy? You mention running 4-5 WR sets against the Jets, but do you even have 4-5 WR’s that know how to play football on your team? Easier said than done buddy. Isnt Ronnie Brown on the trading block too? (hes definitely on the drinking block). The Dolphins offense IS the wildcat hence 12 TD’s 14 INT’s, and if you look at that second game against the Jets, i think you gained 7 yards from the Wildcat..

Jets backed into the playoffs by TWO teams tanking it at the end of the season. They have the worst QB in the division by far (and Buffalo doesn’t even have a QB). Most importantly they lost their best offensive player (TJ) and replacecd him with a petulant, worn out RB who will be a distraction (just ask his SD teammates) as soon as he is not getting enough touches. Just remember him sitting by himself in the playoffs pouting rather than cheering his teammates on when he was taken out in the playoffs. Add to that a WR who is suspended for the first 4 games of the season and is still facing assault charges (it was nothing really, we can fix him), another WR who consistently is among the league leaders in dropped balls each year (but he’ll play better for us), a CB who has digressed every season since his rookie year (but we can fix him), and an offensive coordinator who could do nothing at all last season once teams figured out if you force Sanchez to beat you, he throws picks by the bucket load you have a team that IS nothing more than a paper tiger. Al Davis would be proud.

Coming from a Charger fan who has watched LT and Cromartie for years…Tomlinson has a decent amount of tread left on his tires…but nothing like his glory days. 800yds and 8 tds is gonna be a stretch. And Cromartie is gonna get exposed big time with every qb trying not to throw at Revis. Heaven help you when a running back comes full speed at him…he’s gonna shy away from contact like it’s a birth control device.

oh, the Jets lost their best running back? I’m pretty sure Shonn Greene is still on the roster. Anybody who watched last season could tell you Thomas Jones is washed up and only got so many yards because of superior blocking. Everyone who’s hating on the Jets, go right ahead. It wont change your teams fate when they play the Jets. They’re gonna win at least 10 games this season off defense alone. I think they’ll be 12-4. Not to mention, Rex Ryan showed that he can really coach his team.
As for Henne putting up bigger numbers than Sanchez, we ran the ball more than anybody else. I’m not shaking in my boots waiting for Henne to come beat us next year. I look forward to watching my Jets sack him at least 5 times next season (with maybe Jason Taylor contributing for a couple?!).

The Jets offseason is really a high-risk high-reward sort of situation. With the personalities they’ve assembled in the locker room, a few setbacks could lead to out and out disaster. Every team is a few injuries away from a disappointing season, but the Jets may be a few injuries away from catastrophe. When you combine high expectations with selfish players, a bombastic head coach, and a QB who is not a proven leader you might not get what you want.
The Jets are the one team I would give even odds for winning 11-12 games and losing 11-12 games.
Sure, they’ve improved in free agency, but how often does that correspond to immediate success?
