Really, the bottom line is that someone in Jerry Jones’ position shouldn’t be getting drunk and shooting his stupid mouth off in a bar with a bunch of Joe Sixpacks. Comments like these should be reserved for your closest and most trusted associates, in private, where you can have a reasonable assurance that they’ll never be made public.
What he did only makes him look ridiculous, and it is an embarrassment to what’s supposed to be the “premier” franchise in the NFL.

And if the rest of the NFL had their way, it would have been the same way. Spears was the 2nd rated DE and Ware was the 6th. Spears was being judged SOLELY as a DE while the question about Ware was whether he could make the transition to LB. Add to that is the fact that Spears played against the SEC while Ware played against the Sun Belt and you could see why there were a lot of questions about him and not just from Parcells. BTW, a lot of people thought that Dallas was going to take Merriman that year….

Ya know, I hate all things that are the Cowboys (yes, Cliff Harris, we remember Jack Lambert body slamming you in front of the nation and you were terrified), but I think I have some new found respect for Jerry Jones. How refreshing. I hate these weasels who are taking pictures and videoing everyone trying to get em in trouble, but I actually loved Jerry after this. I might have him over for poker on a few Friday nights with the guys.

Are you THAT ignorant? He was a winner for 3 of his 4 years there AND it was because of their QB that he was a loser in his second season (see below).
You do realize that with the exception of Leonard Davis, the OL predated PHILIPS, don’t you? Only two of the players were drafted by Dallas, Gurode and Adams. Davis came from Arizona, Kosier came from the 49ers and Colombo came from Chicago. They rebuilt NONE of the OL after he left unless you want to rewrite history. The only player that they replaced was Marco Rivera and that was when they signed Leonard Davis.
Vinny was there because Quincy Carter was let go because he failed his drug test and Bledsoe was brought in to replace him because he was only a band-aid and when they thought Romo was ready, they gave him the keys to the car.
Terry Glenn? I would take Terry Glenn over Roy E Williams on HIS BEST DAY and Terry’s WORST DAY and I’d say the same thing about Keyshawn. Dumping on Anderson only shows your ignorance. Of course, every person that you named WASN’T a draft choice and a few were brought in as insurance OR to push the starter who was getting complacent.
Oh and who brought in Romo? Was it Jerry or was it Bill and his staff?

Felix Jones, Tashard Choice, Andre Gurode, Anthony Spencer, Leonard Davis and Mike Jenkins were not parcells picks. Matter of fact neither was Romo (Payton) and if BP had his way they’d have Marcus Spears but not Demarcus Ware instead of Marcus Spears AND Demarcus Ware. Can’t wait until they get rid of Barbie Carpenter. Another wasted first round draft pick.

Hmmm, let’s see. One of his coaches — wait for it — was the guy whose team WON the Super Bowl and Sparano has done a good job at Miami. As for his draftees, with the exception of the 1989 and 1990, he’s done as well as Johnson. Newman, Witten, James. Julius Jones, Crayton: 2005: Ware, Spears, Barber and Canty plus many others that are still in the league, if not with the Cowboys. Go back to the drafts before Parcells hit town and tell me that there were as many gems with the Jones and his traveling circus of draft freaks. You’ll find a couple but the good picks were few and far between.

What Jones said was foolish and pays no respect to a coach who helped build his franchise into a deep roster of competitive players. Parcells turned them around and may have done more if egos did not get in the way. He didn’t win a playoff game, but he was a fumbled snap away. He got them to the playoffs in his first year after one of the league’s premier franchises had fallen into major disrepair. I don’t think many coaches would have had the stones or the stature to elevate Romo into a starter. Many of the faces of the franchise were at one time Parcells guys, and for good reason. If Cowboys fans disagree, fine. I watched many games in the now-imploded Texas stadium and know that many are good fans who stick by their team through thick and thin. That’s the way it should be, but I think it leads some fans to have blinders on in regard to how Jones has or has not improved the franchise from a football standpoint. The team is relatively strong now, but it didn’t have to take as long as it did. Had Jones not swallowed his pride for a few years and brought in Parcells, they would probably still be out of contention.
That being said, Jones was drunk and filmed unbeknownst to him. That’s repugnant. I don’t think there’s any reason he should be reprimanded, though I hope he is embarrassed for coming off like such an arrogant tool.

I have no doubt that every owner, coach, player etc says things about other owners, coaches, players etc that would be considered embarrassing to either the person saying it or the person(s) being talked about. That is human nature.
Since he committed no crime and did not say any of these things in a league press conference or other league sponsored forum, even if the NFL wanted to do something to him they have ZERO right to do so.
